Just a question. I noticed you featured a Pentax K1000 in the top corner briefly in the video. Why? I have my dads K1000 the exact one Asahi model from 1977. I’ve taken awesome pictures with that old camera and you can still use a added flash to fill at 1/60 wide open to fill at 1/3 or 1/2 burst if needed with a vivitar thyristor flash 285. No ND filter required…It is all you really need. Film or course. Why did you show it in the video please explain 😎

When I was in High School, the Pentax K1000 was the staff camera for the yearbook. I have one for sentimental reasons. It was a gift from a friend who heard me talk about it on my podcast. :)

I have the X100v, both conversion lenses, the folding thumb grip, a few lens hoods, a few soft shutter release buttons, the Godox flash that Booray carries, a Demb Flip-It, three tripods, several Peak Design straps, two Peak Design sling bags, circular polarizing filters, a variable neutral density filter, a Custom Digital folding flash bracket... and some other little stuff. As soon as it cools down here in Austin, FUN TIME BEGINS!!!

I've owned many Fuji cameras. I started with the original x100 and absolutely loved it. I took it everywhere and my huge DSLR and lens just became more redundant. The leaf shutter can help produce some very creative stuff. I've had the x100t for a while now and after watching this I'm lusting after the V! What have you done! Hi there, nice video. Just subscribed to your channel. I feel like you about X100. But I'm a bit thorn between this one and the Nikon Z fc. I had a X100S before and I sold it. Z fc is exactly like my FM3a film camera, and have some advantages over the X100V, as the opposite is also true. Did you have the chance to try the Z fc? Or may be do a comparison video of how you felt both and which one you enjoy more...?

I would love to do that video but I've never held one. The X100 series is a particular beast. You have to love it or else there are just good practical reasons to go with an interchangeable camera. Basically, everything in my video is something that doesn't exist on cameras like the Nikon so you have to want that stuff more than a zoom lens. Thanks for the sub! :)

@@BoorayPerry If chose Nikon, I would only use it with a single lens (28mm 2.8 - 42mm equivalent), so it is not about the flexibility - just two equally desired "retro" looking cameras, pulling similar, but at the same time different, triggers in your aesthetics brain. :-) you know what I'm talking about. Maybe X100V + Zf (the rumored upcoming full frame version) would make more sense and justify to get both...

Love your enthusiasm. Great to hear that a professional photographer loves this camera. Others are gushing about it as well. I am going to buy one for sure. Love the retro look. Love the point you made about wanting to carry it with you. There are NO excuses for not having this camera by your side wherever you go. With a big DSLR and a bag of lenses, you feel weighed down not only by the gear but also by the overwhelming choices you have. Less is more. This camera forces you to get back to the basics of photography; to focus on composition and lighting. It seems this camera will make you fall in love with picture taking all over again.

My first Fuji camera was the X30 which has the same style attention getting joy as the X100f I own now. I still use it as my hiking/biking and left in the car camera as even though only 12 mp with a smaller sensor, the results are more than adequate most of the time. But the one in my pocket and at meals during my vacation in Costa Rica with my extended family last week was the X100f. And yes, it was admired by others.

Good Afternoon, Booray. There are not enough adjectives to describe the joy of using this camera. I just spent 6 days in San Francisco with this camera and the Ricoh GR3. While I enjoyed the Ricoh, I kept going back to the X100V. I have an XPro3 and a couple lens. They are all relegated to the occasional landscape photography I might be in the mood to do. The X100V is my third iteration and it is by far, the best. Nice presentation. Regards….Wayne

Great camera with amazing image quality but I still couldn’t get the X100V out of my mind. Borrowed it and if was just so much fun to use that I had to buy it. Had both for a bit but enjoyed the customization of the X100V, from the buttons to the film recipes, I kept reaching for it more. Enjoy the 35mm more too but that’s personal preference.

Hi, sir, I’ve a sharing on how I set the focus for my X100V when doing street photography. I set the front function button to Face Detection on/off. Then I’ll set the Range Limiter to 2m (2m is my go to distance). I set the distance to 2m - 2m, means once I pressed the shutter it’ll lock in 2m, no more no less. Then if suddenly I wanna focus something far or near I’ll click on the function button to turn on Face Detection, then Range Limiter will be disabled, so I can do AF. Then turning on Face Detection with a press of the button I’m back into my 2m zone focus. I can use MF + Back Button Focus when I wanna do AF, but this method is annoying since after back focus your focus distance will change when going back to MF. So pairing Face Detection and Range Limit makes the focus setting on street more flexible.

Still have the original x100 from 20ish years ago. People asked about it all the time. It's down right beautiful and one of the original retros. I feel the same way. They're really isn't many ways in which they could make this camera better IBIS wouldn't really be a big deal because the cameras shoot so wide to begin with that image stabilization isn't really needed. If they could make the view screen flip around for selfies but still keep it flush on the back of the camera that would be cool. Thanks so much for watching 😁📷

I would like to suggest a video about flash duration. This camera with leaf shutter can use flash even at 1/4.000 s but most external flashes need more time to deploy their maximum power. Fast flashes make possible to dim the most of sunlight. Excellent videos, congratulations!

I recently took a good picture in a beach, with my wife in front of me and the sky and the waves reflecting much light after her. I used a flash but needed to increase the light on her face on Lightroom because the flash didn't have time to deploy all the power. The flash in full power needed 1/350s (Godox TT350F). The picture was taken at f7. 1, 1/2.400s, 160 ISO. So the flash only worked for 1/2.400s.

Enjoy your videos and have learned a lot from some. I've owned and loved the x100S and x100F, which I currently shoot a lot. From my point of view (recognizing everybody's needs are a bit different) the only real differentiator that caught my attention in the review was the lens, and what stuck with me was "sharper wide open." Desireable? Of course. Sure there are some other differences that others may weigh more heavily. And if it's your first x100 series camera, it's a no brainer. But are the diffs enough to ditch the F and spend the money? Not for me - at least not today anyway. Maybe the next iteration. Thanks.

But there is one thing I, as a Fujifilm photographer, would like to see and that is your opinion of sharpening RAF Fujifilm raw files in Lightroom Classic. There is so much talk about worms that by now I have my head full of them and that is distracting. Should we all move to Capture One? Should we all buy Iridient? Should we all make TIFFs and sharpen in PS? Or should we all just live with somewhat softer Lightroom sharpening and live happy with that. For me this issue is really disturbing my photography now.

It’s a 4 stop ND filter built in in the V……not three stop as you state in video.

Regarding the silver X100V: I’ve never used a camera that was as warmly received by an unsuspecting public when out taking candid street photography.

Half case in brown leather looks super cool and compliments the retro look of the 100V in my humble opinion. Practical advantages are protects base and nicer grip and no top half of a full case adding bulk or dangling all over the place when taking photos 📸

Look at the Garitz half case...comes in brown or black and has a metal bottom and a little bit extra purchase on the grip. Beautiful case.

Sorry to be technically annoying. I think the ND filter on the V is 4 stops. Up from 3 form the previous models.

I can't understand why they always say it's a 23mm. Then say it's like a 35mm on a full frame camera. It's it's a crop sensor and the lens is fixed. Just call it a 35mm lens. Like on nikon, the 35mm 1.8 lens for a dslr is a crop sensor lens
@BoorayPerry
@BoorayPerry 3 жыл бұрын
Since the name is a literal measurement of the lens they have to call it what it is. But I feel you, it's annoying. :)

I love my x100v however I still shoot more with my iPhone, it’s just easier to grab from my pocket. It’s so sad that I’m saying this. So hard to keep a camera around my neck in daily life. I need to use the x100v more, period!
@torinsall
@torinsall 3 жыл бұрын
Interesting comment...we are not allowed to take photos where I work, so the x100v stays home on work days, still limiting excursions on weekends until covid is closer to gone (this protects high risk family members)...so the only camera I have with me most of the time is the phone. But I do have belt systems for the x100v and xt4 which work great when I do go out...and no strap on the neck. Except maybe fir safety.

Here you explain that the leaf shutter is 'exclusive' to the X100V then point us to a video of the X100F where you fully explain its leaf shutter. I'm all for accuracy and although I've watched a lot of your videos on Fuji, you have now lost me on this one.

@findermanimages
@findermanimages 3 жыл бұрын
@@BoorayPerry @8.23 you say it's exclusive only to the 'v', that's what I got! The only reason it made a difference to me is that I haven't yet ruled out the X100F so was thinking this can't be right. Other than that, the 'v' looks an amazing camera and the weather sealing alone (with the appropriate kit!) is almost worthy of the upgradein its own right.

Let's face it, having a fixed lens isn't a reason to like a camera. I have the xt4 but I have zero desire to switch lenses. A fixed lens doesn't make someone have self control and more focus on their art. It's a choice. Just like how film doesn't force someone to slow down. I am always slow and I'm shooting fuji. It's a choice.

Unfortunately you lost me after going to great lengths to explain how you held the X-T camera because it was so (too?) small and you would never do that with the X100V then proceeded to hold the X100V in exactly the way you said you never would.
