Boyz in the Hood is better to me because the script was deeper and we got the see the POV of different guys we knew from our hoods. Tre had both of his hard working parents in his life, Doe Boy and Ricky had a hood mama with different dads, Brandi was that cute girl from the neighborhood. And all of them had different paths in life.
@newclothes8165 Жыл бұрын
It had great character development so you really felt for the characters in the movie. Which is why when Ricky died everyone was shocked. When Kane died we was like "uh okay,,we knew this was gonna happen." Menace had no character development at all.
@ericrowland3246 Жыл бұрын
@@newclothes8165 agreed and Menace is great but as an audience we’re waiting like “Are they going to end up getting killed or end up in prison?”. Menace relied more on action while Boyz in the Hood had a better script and character development. Both are classics regardless.

Ice Cube and Ricky had no father present. Doe boy was the gangster son and Ricky was the athlete trying to make it out the hood through sports, Cuba was the one who had a father present but still surrounded by the elements of the hood every single time he step out the house. Menace to Society just showed Ice Cubes part in depth and it did it well it’s basically if the Boyz in the hood was solely about Doe Boy it would Menace to society.

@@GodMode369 I feel you, but it's more than just about having a father. If Furious was just like Caine's father, Tre would've been a criminal, too. Tre had good parents... Both films were entertaining and insightful. With that being said, John Singleton created a film showing both sides of the spectrum when it comes to family dynamics and street politics. Furious' role of representing a positive male figure was constant throughout the film. Singleton helped us understand the importance of having the positive influence of both parents in your life. Whereas everyone in Menace To Society were misguided with the exception of Sharif who had his dad present but his dad was only in two scenes of the film which made the film feel more like the typical "hood tale". John Singleton actually set the bar for these urban films and coined the phrase "hood films" or "hood classics". I salute both directors.

As a grown man you’ll realize Boyz N Da Hood was better and way more deeper then Menace 2 Society and the message of each individual was more realistic

I like how after Vlad mentioned the drama around the American Me movie how Boosie was so zoned into the story , and looked like he was at home watching this on TV. Lol

Gangster movies? Both movies are good dramas and both taught lessons. Stay away from people with no emotional intelligence O dog! Kain possibly could have deescalated the situation. Boyz in the hood, just showed you have to sometimes leave friends behind to avoid the traps they are headed for.

*I’d say menace 2 society is better based on the lessons i learned from Caine… I used to be a good kid around the wrong people & seeing what happened to him woke me up….! I still to this day tell young kids YOU DONT WANNA GET CAINE’D*

Menace 2' Society was like the hood version of Goodfellas especially the narration of the lead character throughout..,it shows typical life in the hood in America mi think the Hughes brothers even said he tried to pattern it as such .., Boys in the hood was deeper in that it touched on the importance of having a father, Tre had his , Rick and Dough boy didn't, how some mother's treat they sons based on how they feel about the father, gentrification and also how the streets love no one, rick had a future but got killed anyway, more emotional but 2 dope movies with different perspectives

My Brother was the first person who told me about the 2 movies, 1. American Me & Blood In Blood Out, once I watched both I told him that I thought American Me was better than Blood In Blood Out, but he preferred that latter. I dont like how movie Directors like to add fictional scenes to a Non fictional ( true story ) movie. I was disappointed once I found out about the fake rape scene in American Me, that never happened in real life, but that false scene caused people associated with the movie to actually lose their lives. Just like the movie Paid In Full: Ace ( A Z Faizon ) never wore a wire when he spoke to Rico ( Alpo Martinez ) in the park, and Mitch ( Rich Porter ) was not shot & killed in a starwell/ hallway like in the movie, he was shot while riding in the back of Rico's van
@hustlanair Жыл бұрын
Yea you gotta point about that. They should've just told the story how it originally played out in real life
@Eman14128 Жыл бұрын
The alpo dc story still needs to be done , but it needs a series not a film , hopefully 50 will get involved in that project , mary j blige has rights to alpo story.
@PopO51968 Жыл бұрын
@@Eman14128 I'll definitely be waiting for that one
@brazyfilmo3121 Жыл бұрын
@@Eman14128naw we need an authentic director no disrespect to 50 cent but his shows are not accurate compared to movies and shows like the wire. 50 would just take the story and turn it Hollywood like he did bmf we need an director who would keep it all the way authentic.

Similar plots and time periods. They came out in the same era of black films by black directors. Both took place in Los Angeles ghettos.

There are too many real-life lessons and situations in Boyz N Da Hood. Gentrification is one of them. BNTH is easily the better movie.
