9:05 - Right, so I keep seeing this everywhere. Everyone tells you NOT to play side spin across the ball. To adjust your stance so you're still striking directly straight through the cueball only to one side or the other. Yet, when I watch people playing side, I ALWAYS see them striking very much across the ball. You are clearly doing it here, a lot.

You chuck your elbow out to your right when trying to put left hand side on it. No matter what side or top or bottom the cue needs to go straight. Steering the white is why you don’t get as much left as you can right. Go back and look at the end of the video and you’ll see it for yourself. Great content by the way. When using side - your technique changes for some reason depending on the right or left. Look again: when playing with left hand side you do a weird thing with the cue(elbow and shoulder), yet you get more result without it when playing with right hand side.
@Breakfromlife
@Breakfromlife 4 жыл бұрын
That was because I was throwing my arm at it a bit to try and get more sidespin on it. With right hand side I didn’t need to do that.

@@Breakfromlife Well, you are the pro=) I am sure you can work out a way to actually balance it out. Because at the moment it seems you are introducing a flaw to compensate for some other flaw(like Barry Stark usually says). Like Trump moves his whole body right before a shot to compensate for the incorrect aim.

Nice video! I think one possible reason you can't put as much side spin on one side vs the other might be your center ball is actually off to one side. Reason I say this is because I have a lazy eye and I had major problem finding center ball. I was lucky I found a very very good coach and corrected this problem by a good margin. In short i now put the cue right under my dominant eye and when I get down first thing I do is find exactly where center ball is and things got much better since.

Hey mate...wishing for your good health.. A question, can we change the side after getting down into the shot, by moving the bridge hand. One more thing, when we line a shot up our dominant eye is on that line ie behind the center of the cue ball, but if we are putting a side on the ball, where should our eye be, over the cue or behind the center of the cue ball, as there is a touch distance between the both. Thanks a ton :)

There's one thing no one ever mentions for improving your ability to get more spin. In clubs, people handle the cue ball a lot and they can get a bit greasy and simply cleaning them thoroughly with an alcohol wipe and then handling them as little as possible helps considerably.

Hello there! I am a regular follower of your videos,. Heres one thing I request you to make a video of. Everybody shows how to hit and where to hit in cue ball, but no one is explaining about how to practice amount of effort put in cue stick and how it matters. Also make a video of how to practice how much strength or force to use in what kind of shot and all - I hope you understand what I am requesting for. It is about how hard to hit in different kind of shot and how to practice - how hard to hit and making consistency in hitting with same amount of force or effort.

@Breakfromlife
@Breakfromlife 4 жыл бұрын
It can be difficult with nerves when you aren’t used to it but it gets better after a while. Mostly when you start getting a lot of shots going well you can play the game subconsciously for a while. So there are times when you need the intensity and times when things can happen naturally

Since this video is about spin, I'm moving my comment here...Break from life will attempt any challenge? OK, then, here's a shot from Jimmy White's Snooker Masterclass (book) that I could never make.... the cue ball goes on either the green or yellow spots and the object ball goes on the blue spot. The shot is played with maximum side to pot the ball in the straighter top pocket (left side of table (looking from baulk) if the cue ball is on the yellow - played with left hand side). The ball is potted and the cue ball, given enough side, travels up the table, and spins off the cushion to go the other side of the black, i.e. it ends up on the same side as the target pocket. I was never able to generate enough spin to do this but, since I was able (when I practised a lot) to make all the other shots in this book, I assume it must be possible, and that JW isn't the only person who can do it. Want to try it?

You'll have to focus on your cue action a lot. It's worth watching cue action coaching videos and checking if you have sound fundamentals
@vmax4steve524
@vmax4steve524 4 жыл бұрын
Film yourself with your phone Glen and look for the tell tale signs of movement on the strike. One true mantra: you hit what you're looking at, so as you strike the cue ball, you don't look at the cue ball, you don't look at the pocket, you don't look at a ball you wish to cannon, you look only at the contact point on the object ball, nothing else. Adopt good snooker stance fundamentals, if you have an upright pool stance then get that chin down on the cue. Check your cue action along the baulk line, if the cue isn't bang on the baulk line from tip to butt then shift your feet in your stance until it is and find a pre shot routine that puts you in this position every time.

It takes a lot more than you expected to get up to pro level. Knowing what to do, why and how to do something does not mean you can actually do it and do it consistently. Apart from techniques , there are aspects like tactics, mental condition, endurance, etc., which may be something that a pro player truly stands out from an amateur player.
