Been using Crossmark and Crossmark II the whole of my biking experience. They are trail worthy but fits in XC only. If you want more grippy tires for the trail, a tire with more knobs will be better. Crossmark II come with very small knobs but they work well in the tarmac and gravel. Nice vid man good luck getting that 5 pawls.

We got the WTB sx19 wheelset for our Taff project, at $159 we didn't really care about the specs haha. I don't like WTB customer service, but $159 for a wheelset, count us in. The main confusion with the D162SB..mine came with 5 pawls but there are multiple versions. Loose bearings shimano and Sram casette with 3 or 5 pawls. You can convert it to a 5 pawls by buying F type casette+new axle.

You should try getting some koozer wheelsets with the XM490 hubs for your next build as they are cheap, smooth and have TONS of engagement. To be specific it has 6 paws, 72 points of engagement and sealed cartridge bearings. They are also very versatile as they have freehub bodies for Shimano HG, Shimano Microspline and also Sram XD driver. I just purchased my second set of koozer wheels for my other bike as they are hands down the best budget wheelset for the money.

Just keep the wheels. I tried ordering those same wheels in Quick Release. Guess what? I got a bathroom mirror sent to me instead of wheels. Smh. Never got the wheels & then they went “Currently Unavailable” on Amazon. Just a overall bad experience. Glad you got wheels those..

When using asyme rims. After taped use a solder iron to melt a perfect hole in the tape. Much much better valve install.

If you wanted six pawls you should've went with the pazak boost wheels. I got a set off ali. They sound great and they look like a knock off of one of the Hope hubs. The way they come apart. They were only $140.

You need a separate front hub. No one usually sells a package of front TA Boost and rear QR.

i got these same wheelset and the tape job was also terrible haha. i re taped with gorilla grip and got my maxxis exo tyres seated at the bead and still leak at the spokes... Do you need sealant to keep it fully sealed or should it be able to hold air without sealant?

Sorry to ask a silly question. But what is the difference between a 3 and 5 pawls hub? I am new to all this.

It has to do with the engagement (contact points) of the hub. The more contact points (amount of pawls to the amount of contacts on inner ring of hub) the quicker the acceleration of the rear wheel when you press on the cranks. Though some systems work better than others, i.e. Chris King's Ring Drive system and Onyx hubs). Zero to minute movement of cranks before the wheels begin to turn.

@@eckos2310 Welcome. You can checkout AliExpress. You will sometimes find the same item on selling Amazon that is also selling on AliExpress but for less $ on AliExpress. Drawbacks are that AliExpress shipping times are longer and buyer protection is sketchy (depending on the seller). My advice is to purchase from sellers that have sold a lot of the item being sold. That will give you a better rating of the item and seller. For example, a seller that has sold a 1000 Novatec Hubs and has a 3 star rating will be more accurate than a seller that has sold 50 Novatec hubs and has a 5 star rating. You can also search Ebay and Craigslist

To be fair to the seller, the Novatec website says this hub has a 5 pawl setup. Most sellers aren’t going to unpackage and disassemble every product to verify specs.
