Zoom is a Brazilian brand and as a Brazilian that rocked them from 2012 to 2017 I must say: these are not low quality forks per se, they are made with the mentality of "the best quality that can fit into a brazilian's budget". I never rode these because they were released after I stopped doing DH, but I can tell you that they look way better engineered from the one I used. The one I used was a mechanical "double decker" 150mm that was heavy as fuck but lasted the whole 5 years with me, getting beaten and falling down cliffs with me. If you want a quality budget DH fork, go for them, but if you want a nuanced geometry and configurability, then these are not for you, because we brazilians like to focus on durability at the expense of over-engineering, so it can fit our pockets.

I had a fork fail back 20 years ago. It was an aluminum Ballistic brand fork. It was recalled by Raleigh but the shop still had it around and I ended up with a sour deal on it, not knowing it was recalled. I woke up in the ICU of Vanderbilt. I was just popping off a root in ground to dive bomb a bank and the wheel disappeared. I always wear a helmet but that day was out building instead of really riding and didn't have one. In this odd case, the doctors could evaluate that had I had my full face moto helmet on that it would have likely broken my neck or paralyzed me. I ended up with a fractured skull, nose, ribs, ripped parts of my face, and the wild kicker.. I bit off the front 3 inches of my tongue, and the teeth that bit it off were found stuck IN the tongue chunk that was left laying in the trail. A friend went back and found that for me. I was knocked out for about 15 minutes.. my cuz was behind me, saw it all. He propped me up and went for help.. I looked near dead. I came to while he was gone and got up and in shock, started my way out of the woods using the bike like a walker in a wheelie. I met up with the incoming EMT squad about halfway out. They still say that I am the most busted up person they ever saw that was still going. Glad to be a toothless ripper with ya, Sam. Seeing how awesome you rock that gap makes me a little more ok with it all for myself. I do live in Kentucky, so it's not as unfashionable. haha. Best to ya bud. -Pat

He did say it was really heavy. It's not likely to break on you if they didn't engineer it to be light. Those things are likely made in the same factory as all the expensive ones. My guess is a cheapo product like this gets some machining ops skipped to save money (and that's why it's heavier). I doubt they'd make a purchase of different raw material just to make a cheapo product. The exception would be carbon fiber, it's cheaper to use less carbon. That doesn't apply to aluminum - removing material costs more money.

The real test is if they still work in a month or not. I'm not a parts snob and I don't even ride hard but the ~150 quid suntour forks on my bike have squeaked and pushed out water almost as long as I've had them. I guess the seals are crap out of the box and water got in them.

I had at least 10ml rust-water in each stanchion on my suntour forks. The weight savings upon drainage was noticable lol

That is a crazy cool session network you have there!

I had a pair of these on a diy 1500w ebike for a year, abused the hell out of them to work and back every day with no complaints. Id reccomend taking them apart and regreasing them before use as the factory grease is terrible!

These Sam Pilgrim vids are so amaze! My missus is like stop watching those stupid bike videos and I'm just chuckling at all the lingo. I'd love it if you could do some basic tutorials for beginners, like how to shred the berms, or basic jumps etc. Keep up the sick content!

Bro, in Brazil this suspension is expensive for most people, Fox, Rock Shox and Mazorcchi there are few out there and they are much more expensive than forgo, but a great demonstration with this cheaper suspension, very good video
