Hey Sue. Now I know who's brain to pluck for growing the Alfalfa. I just ordered seeds because I am so impressed with the results that I want to grow my own. That's $24 less that I'll have to spend on this wonderful soil amendment. A lot of the bags at big box that say soil amendment is just fine bark. I want to cut down on my perlite use and this seemed a great alternative. I also use the nuggets as 25% of my blueberry growing medium.

You can make fish fertilizer the same way. I'm going fishing next week and will post a video on how to make fish fertilizer. Meantime, go purchase Alaska fish fertilizer and Alaska Morbloom. Question….what if you’re not into gardening yet and at the very very beginning stages? What would you use for garden soil? My dirt in my yard is far from good lol but I would love to start gardening and being more self sufficient.
@growingoutthebox
@growingoutthebox Жыл бұрын
I would solarize the area you want to start growing to get rid of any weeds or insects. Check out my short on how to solarize. It's very simple. It's what I do when I start a new bed. Then mix in compost into the top 6 inches. Let sit for 2 weeks and start planting. Once planted mulch very heavy. I hope that helps.

Do you have the results with this mix? I would be scared to mix that much pine bark into the mix as I’ve always been taught that the word would use nutrients, especially nitrogen, so that the plants wouldn’t have enough. Maybe you’re adding enough yucca and alfalfa pellets to compensate for this?

I tried to make my own compost last year and everywhere I used it this year it has lots of grass growing out of it. My compost was Grass clippings, saw dust, wood chips, coffee grounds. Some veggies left over and leaves. Not sure what happened unless I didn't get it hot enough.

If I don't know the answer I research it. That is what's making me a better gardener and tells me the content to put out. What's missing from our fast pace lives is someone that pays attention to our personal needs. People just want to know that you are listening. I could have simply replied back, "Thank you" it would have been so much easier. I'm sharing with you why the channel is moving. "Service to others"🙏🏽

My yucca won't go away! lol... It grows year round but a castile soap can be used sparingly. Too much could affect the soil biology because they are both antimicrobial.
