I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your father. I pray that your mother mourns peacefully and will soon be able to laugh and cry freely in the memories of the moments that she shared with him. I pray the same for you. Cherish the memories and laugh in the days of joy you spent together. It sounds to me like I am not a candidate for a fast. I fast periodically. My most extended fast was 96 hours, and as you said, I was in a euphoric state. I was very tempted to continue fasting. It sounds like I should not have done that because, after a year of keto, I went off for two months. I destroyed all the good I provided my body for a year, the inflammation is off the chart, and I can feel it. My stomach area is taking the brunt of the sugar I have been eating. I am not sure what happened, but I think I got overconfident and felt that I could handle a little sugar, but for me, that's like saying an alcoholic can handle one drink. Two months of being off the wagon with sugar in my diet, I will be earning that 1-year keto chip all over again. The reason I fast is for health benefits. I practice keto because of the benefits it provides my body and to lose a lot of weight. I lost 50 pounds during the year of keto I practiced, but I did not lose my first pound until I was 5 months into the practice. I stuck with it because my brain power was off the chart. The fog was lifted, and I felt brilliant. But, I am definitely insulin resistant and have a lot of inflammation going on, so I have no business fasting, for long stretches. I am so grateful that you posted this VLOG. I will still practice intermittent fasting. I do have a question for you. I would like to go on a liver cleanse. I take Sotalol and Eliquis for afib. Will a liver cleanse interfere with the benefits those meds provide for me? My Cardiologist doesn't even want to hear me say anything about fasting or keto diet, though he says that my heart is perfect except for this little electrical problem -- Afib. So, I do not want to ask him about the cleanse because he will just talk me out of it. I want to do the cleanse because my primary physician says that my liver enzymes are climbing. She wanted to know if I started drinking. I have never liked alcohol, so I don't drink. Food is my choice for self-destruction. I have ignored his dieting advice because I believe in the benefits of the keto way of living. My primary physician feels the same way; she says keto is too tricky and could backfire on me. My cardiologist says, don't do it because it is not a cardiac diet, my cholesterol won't be able to handle it. Wow, reading back on this, I sound like a real train wreck. What do you think about the liver cleanse and the meds that I am taking? Will one interfere with the other? Thank you for the VLOG. Please know that God is walking with you, and He will carry you if you need Him to as you go through these days of grieving. Your father is in His arms and is held tenderly and sweetly to His heart. I believe He is inviting you and your mother to dance in celebration of His life. Not a dance of happiness (that will come later) but a dance of tenderness, love, and the blessings you share having had your father in your lives.

Thanks so much Dr Boz, My family and I did our first 72 hour fast with you and the Redmond group in honor of your dad. We were ready as we had been in ketosis for three months and doing 16 - 8 plus 2 x 40 hour fasts per week. I then signed up for the Consistently Keto course and just yesterday completed it. It was so educational and answered so many of the questions I’ve had since going keto. Thank you for creating the course and making it available a second time. I so appreciate all you share of your knowledge and time. My prayers of healing and comfort continue for you and your family. ✨❤️✨💫

Love your channel and I share it with all my Keto friends. You really connect the dots between the science and empirical evidence we all experience. Can you do a show on the longevity aspects of fasting and ketogenic diet? I know some of your youthful looks are due in part to your dad and good genetics, however, I also think your health regimen contributes to your anti-aging.

I'm fasting to fix my brain, on my third 72 hour fast trying to do one a week for 8weeks .had 14 strokes. Doing keto and omad. Trying to eat sardines. Any thing else? Trying to find a fasting friendly doctor. So far doctors have not been helpful. Can't tell you how many have told me to eat a diabetic diet. How fasting is going to be hard on my kidneys. How as a diabetic I should eat every 4 hours as the best way to control my blood sugar's.
@type1fun476 Жыл бұрын
Do you have a level of insulin that would be an aim for a type 1 diabetic? You say a level of five and I would say I have less than that or about there at any given point if I am assuming that I have the fast acting from my pump active and present for about four hours. Sometimes it is a little more, sometimes a little less.

Hi Dr. Boz. Could you kindly comment on how stress can effect ketones? Where you are just coming down from a very stressful time between COVID and your Father’s passing did you see a change? I had a stressful week last week and my ketones plummeted. Fasting again to get back on track.

Dr. Boz - does taking MCT oil with food affect the effectiveness if you are on a ketogenic diet? I see there is a study showing only a fraction of the ketone levels when taken with food but it was with a high carb meal. Curious if it is different with a low carb meal.

Like when you have adrenal fatigue and you first start out and you can barely go 3 hours without eating without you start shaking like a leaf. That was me 6 days ago and now I can go about 5. There’s no way I can come close to 16 hours or my head starts to hurt, all my adrenal pressure points start to throb and I’m in serious trouble. No thanks I’ll keep eating until my body says different. And according to the strips I am in Ketoses.

Hi doctor can you please tell me what I should do I have low testosterone well low end of normal I need to lose 50-60 pounds and I have seborrheic dermatitis it itches around the brows in the ears and my scalp but the worst part is how dry and brittle my hair has become I’m losing some hair as well. My hair is not healthy anymore and I can’t wash it as often because when I do it feels less dense and not getting the natural oils can I cure this? It could be leaky gut but someone said it could be a zinc or fatty acid deficiency please let me know I’m in keto and it hasn’t fixed it please help it also feels like something is under my scalp almost like a fungus. What’s weird is now like when I shower I have more dead skin that I wipe off and it is like dark and I can run it continuously off and sometimes it’s even on my face like rolls of dead skin I can wipe off... I can’t afford much right now with blood tests I just want to be healthy again I’m so self conscious

I started keto May 18,2020. I have lost 18 pounds. My starting weight was 301 I was about to do a 36 hour fast. Now I’m not sure what to do.... what type of fasting works best for some like me ? Anyone ? Feedback is greatly appreciated 🤍
@spongebobsquaretits4 жыл бұрын
i started at virtually the same time as you, ive done a few 36 hour fats, basically i just dont eat Mondays , so go from roughly 5pm Sunday to 5 pm Tuesday, i find it easy with no effects. I find on the tuesdaywhen im about to break the fats im not always hungry
@yolanda14644 жыл бұрын
fred bloggs thank you! I guess what I gathered from her info is that it is not recommended for me to fast yet. I honestly have been listening to lots of dr boz and dr Fung and I may have information overload. I know that I can do the fast because I’m not that hungry often, but is it safe for me. Like I’ve read about running in to plateaus that can last a year and since I have so much to lose that would be devastating.

Salt + water are best. Pocket Salt: bit.ly/31ypeen (Promo code: DrBoz) Salt Sucking Rocks: bit.ly/3bkpZMl (Promo code: DrBoz) Sounds weird but it's strangely satisfying. Black coffee - I prefer cold brew coffee. Fasting tea. My favorite = Pique Tea Instant Crystals: Bergamot Black Tea piquetea.life/drboz_bergamot Pique Teas have great flavor and the highest antioxidants possible. They freeze dry their tea into crystals. Pique Tea acts like instant tea ... with GREAT TASTE. Not bitter. Not moldy.

Alternate Day Fasting is works well. Use a 36 hour fast + 12 eating window... Or use a 47 hour fast with a 1 hour eating window. The rhythm of eating and fasting can fit into a nice rhythm. Pick a fasting schedule that fits into your life. Measure your Dr Boz Ratio. Keep the number low. That reflects a lower insulin. Have you seen this video? kzbin.info/www/bejne/npyam5qPYsd2maM

I’ve been mostly carnivore for about four months. I’ve been eating a few ketogenic vegetables for the last several weeks. I still try to keep my carbs as close to zero as possible, but I do eat an occasional salad or side of broccoli, something like that. My ketone levels range between 0-2 or so but they go down and my glucose rises the longer I fast
