I have NEVER left a comment on any video until now. You are the MAN!!!!! My extra xr battery was sitting for 2 years and this worked. Honestly I was hesitant to try this until you gave the examples of causation as I was the guy that went uphill on a super hot day and threw it in my car with one dot and got the RLOD next time I charged it. You have no idea how much this means to me especially with boosted off the map. I thought about junking this thin so many times. I watched hours of videos and trying your procedure was my final hail mary. Thank you so much for posting this I will be forever grateful you took the time to do this service to the forgotten boosted riders.

Thank you for sharing this long awaited solution!!!!!! So bad I didn´t see it before. I followed your instructions step by step and it worked perfectly. Opening the battery was simple, but getting the battery pack out of its case demanded some effort. On the process I had to break little plastic joints that are between the battery pack and the black case but I think there is no other way to do it. I sealed the battery with a polymer product that i hope will replace the original seal. Considering that it was stored for so long, I had it charged for two full days and today I used it for about 8 miles and the battery performed perfectly. Literally it went from de Red Light of Death to Green Light of Joy.

WOW, it worked even after a year of me just leaving the battery in RLOD. I used a plastic trim tool to remove the coating to expose the metal contacts. Then on the 2nd try, I used a small metal flathead #2.5 and the RLOD has been cleared! Overall it took an hour to take the battery apart. I'll leave it on the charger for a couple weeks. Thanks so much, you saved me extra money and a lot of time.

@@KenTVtw Keep it plugged in for a month first so the cells all balance out. Otherwise, it still works with no issue, and I have not let the battery go beyond 25%, since RLOD happened when I took the board out after 3 months of sitting and decided to be stupid by flooring it up the hill at nearly 0% charge.

I wanted to report back to say this worked! Thank you! I was super skeptical at first but I did the procedure and the RLOD is gone. The battery is now charging and I will leave it on for a couple weeks. I used a toothpick to remove the film. The two terminals are super small and hard to see. At first I thought my circuit board did not have the terminals...lol. I used a tiny flathead to keep scraping after the initial toothpick method to really get down to the terminals. Took a few tries but it did work.

I got to ride my ride for the first time in 18months thanks to this video. Absolutely worked! I tried the Amnesia mod on a different battery at it was a fail. This method is way simpler. It was RLOD for a year and a half. Not anymore ! hah.

Does your battery show full battery or only shows it is half full

@@KenTVtw using the battery indicator on the board it shows full bars now, but it may have been different last time this happened, nevertheless, I left it charging for two weeks after that so the the bms could balance the cells.

@@KenTVtw Sorry, as this didn’t happen to me I cant help. I’d recommend charging and not using it continuously for 2 weeks like I did, at least that’s what I read a while back in some forums. Honestly if it’s giving you roughly the same estimated range on the “Ride” app I wouldn’t worry about it, otherwise sorry.

Amazing video, fixed my board. For anyone still trying just know the cells are extremely hard to remove from the battery casing but it is possible with a lot of force! Had to balance my board for 2 weeks after but it seems good now!

YOU ARE THE GREATEST. After searching the internet far and wide: THIS IS THE BEST AND EASIEST SOLUTION. Just be careful taking the battery out after you take the cover out. I don't think it's possible not to break the plastic sleeves that are glued in place with the white glue you see in the video. I don't think it was ever meant to be re-assembled. So it is permanently glued. You have to brute force it out to break the sleeves to release the battery

Gotta be honest, was skeptical about doing this. Mainly because I’m not to familiar with doing stuff like this. Gave it a go last night, took my time to remove the battery cover/ battery itself. I just followed the instructions from @Nomadned and ITS WORKED. No not on the first try, I would say after the 6th/7th try. Mainly because I was scrapping away at the contacts very little each time. (Didn’t want to mess it up by scrapping to much). FYI my XR Battery hadn’t been plugged in for over a year. Kinda gave up on it since I got the RLOD. Thanks you sir!!! 🙏🙌

I am taking the battery apart soon. I rode the board uphill, after that rode it for a few more km on flat but on cold weather and depleted the battery. When i got home and plugged it in i got the ROLD. Il keep you posted,

Worked for me on a battery that had RLOD for at least 2 years. Remember to use something conductive to short the two contacts, like a razor blade like i did since screw drivers didnt do it.

Just so you know the "film" is called Solder Mask. It protects the circuitry from corrosion and from shorts.

It’s not solder mask. It’s a conformal coating that he scraped off.

@@robertmaks0 Solder mask, solder stop mask or solder resist is a thin lacquer-like layer of polymer that is usually applied to the copper traces of a printed circuit board for protection against oxidation and to prevent solder bridges from forming between closely spaced solder pads. Straight from Google. The first TINY layer is conformal coating, after that it's all solder mask. He dug straight down to the traces.

Damn this did solve my RLOD but I couldn’t charge over 50% anymore, so I tried letting it charge for over a week and nothing changed. I recently tried to charge it by towing it with a car, it did charge my board up to 90%, but once I plug in the charger when it is 90%, it instantly turned back to 50%…. When I unplug the charger it is reset to 50% again…. So every time when I charge it it would show 50%…. Is there anyway to fix this?

Would you be able to charge it out of the board. For example after the rlod is cleared. At that point before connecting it back to the board and sefuring it down. Can we charge it off the board for 2 weeks? Or is plugging everything back together best way

be aware that this fix will remove the waterproof glue of the battery. the glue can be applied but i tried and it still didnt work, lost battery to water damage.

This method works as many times as you need. If it keeps doing it then it means you have a bad cell and need to replace it. You can use a multimeter to find out what cell is bad. They cost about 6 USD per cell on ebay.

The cells are fine. XR has a bad design. To charge 🔋 every few months is necessary if you want to have RLOD free unit.

Try leaving it plugged in for a couple of hours. Remember that this only resets the RLOD. It does not fix any bad cells in your pack. Use a multimeter to test every individual cell and replace the bad ones. There's plenty of youtube videos on how to test and replace cells.

If it doesn’t come on again after doing this that means you fried your spi flash and the battery is even more useless now it can’t be fixed after that doing this tactic will reset rlod but it’s dangerous for that very reason

@@adriantorres132 ​ @nickyabreu8123 i did figure out the problem one of the cells was too low on charge compared to the others to allow the reset to stay reset pretty much it would go green but then fail and go rlod again because of that one cell to low on charge so then i bought a charger to charge that one cell brought it back up to the others did the short again and it worked for good

Yes as long as you have that specific ISSI chip on there, you can short it out and clear the RLOD

@@JoshuaWacaster if yours will not reset. it means you have to do a different method which is also very easy to do. short the two pins like in the video and then plug in the charger. Then let go of the two pins and check the battery with a volt meter. The amazing thing is if you did it right the battery is charging even if the red light is blinking!!! give it a try and have your multimeter checking the battery voltage and you will see the battery charging!

Use a not hot blade but a warm one to break tha seal with tha glue used by tha manufacture."Carefully" pry 1st then use tha heated blade to free Ure batt!!! and anything else U need to free. I'm out'z. Shreadin without U.

There are some people who knows but it cost a lot and they dont teach, i think is simples but at same time HARD to know, the easiest way i think is possible, is by coping a Stealth ESC firmware and write/ copy to V2 ESC for example, cuz all the boosted has the same partes, only diferent designs and Software Locks
