Something I noticed- when you made the first pass, the MR2 didn't seem to roll out before the launch as bad as it usually does. That explains the faster 1/8th mile with lower boost. Not sure what was different on that launch but it worked

The motors in the pro mod import cars are billet block and lighter and the car is several hundred pounds lighter. The rules change after 190mph. Aerodynamics become even more important. Great job Kyle! Happy to see you guys out ripping it That car is an amazing door slammer

I once had a window explode in my Eg hatch going over 100mph on the highway, i had some shards of glass go into my face and neck, you are very lucky at the speed you were going not to have any injuries ! you can see what looks like glass flying around inside the car when door/window blew off. I explained to a gentleman over 15 years ago when I was a teen working at AutoZone about how the 4 cylinder world would be able to keep up with the v8 world in the next 20 years. He didn't believe me till I showed him a video of a 700 hp prelude which was a lot back then. But man these things are insane nowadays being able to push over 1500 up and more out of 4 bangers. I'll so proud of where these cars have gone. My first car was an 89 ford probe gt turbo and I was a believer from day 1 keeping up with vets and lightnings mustangs. I loved that car.

The door blew off because off the co2 blowoff for the parachute. Needs to be vented outside or have pressure relief slots in the side windows. Watch carefully when he hits the chute the door skin pops.

if you attach a rubber strip approx 2' wide to the inside of the wing and leave it hanging an inch outside the car along the door jam the wind rushing past as you make a run will fold the rubber strip over the door gap keeping the air from pulling at the door. Works on windows too.

I had same thing happened to me with a fiberglass door. Mine was flexing out every pass also and it blew off exactly at the finish line like yours did. I had old time slips in the car and everything got sucked out when it blew off. I couldn't imagine going as fast as you were and that happened cause the suction is crazy. Great video 👍

Its awesome to see where you have come from in the last 7 years ive been watching you. and wit the extremes you've taken on with the MR2 project. Extremes like pushing 200mph in a car that was never designed to go past 150 XD Im no aerodynamics engineer so this is open to discussion. But I think the doors blew off because the air flowing over them is causing a low pressure zone and sucking the windows off. A lexan latched window is the right way to go either way you think about it. Ive been thinking about the MR2 rear wing a bit, i thought those drag wing are designed to allow high air flow over top and making slow turbulent air underneath, in conjunction with a flat floor and cut bumper would create a diffuser effect sucking the rear down with still being low drag. So with that in mind wouldnt dumping hot exhaust gasses in that zone do some weird aero inbalancing. and adding a panel from the top of the roof to the boot lid covering the engine bay would clean up the messy turbulences there.

When you get the door replaced put Optic Armor lexan in them and get a set of billet door hinges so it's easier to pull the doors on and off the car and get a flat piece of carbon for the engine cover and go to Cameron Johnson Race Cars and get a window net setup for the car and get the billet block engine built so you don't have to worry about splitting the block in half and when you pull the factory block out put a set of Darton sleeves in it and get the block filled with block filler or concrete and take the radiator and water pump off the car because once you put the billet block in it you'll be running a dry block anyway so you might as well make the factory block stronger and a dry block itself so if you have to put the factory block back in it. It will make it easier to switch between the two and it will make the factory block stronger so you can push it harder and farther and maybe get into the 6s with a factory block and the billet block but I would put a billet head on the billet block as well so really you have alot more money to spend coming up and once you get all that done then it'll be time to make the tube chassis Civic fully built with a billet engine and if I were you I would put a Liberty 5speed in it with a V gate shifter like they run in NHRA Pro Stock and put the same slipper clutch in it that they run and then you can run with the Modified guys

It's not that the cabin becomes pressurized, it is because the slipstream causes negative pressure on the outside of the glass. The Bernoulli effect. Those holes he talks about allow the air pressure inside and the outside of the glass to become the same. Air pressure on an object reaches about 1 PSI at around 180 mph, when it actually starts to compress. That doesn't sound like much, but think about how many inches are exposed to that 1 pound per square inch and you wind up with a formidable amount of force. The side vacuum force that pulled this window out might very well have been beyond 1 PSI, again the Bernoulli effect. I suspect that the door can be repaired with epoxy and screws, but I don't know if tracks will allow that sort of repair. Great video!
