This was such a helpful video, as a few days ago my rear axel locked up going down the road after the rear bearing gave out and i have to fully replace it. good video and nice work

Glad you got the rear all figured out with the tires and bearing deal I’ve had them bearings go in two of my trucks but they were gently abused!!!! See you in the next video!!!

I’m dealing with a bent housing on my ram now. 2013 rusted bolts everywhere (NY)…. Wish me luck just picked up a used housing for $800 🤦🏻♂️ hope it all goes well I’m using a 2018 on a 2013. Should go smooth right?
@ulisesastorga91312 жыл бұрын
If that doesn’t work, check the rear thrust angle. You may have to buy rear adjustable control arms to properly align the rear thrust angle to get rid of the vibration.
@MM_in_Havasu2 жыл бұрын
Hope this will eliminate any vibration issues that may still be happening! Thanks for the update!

Did you loc tite the driveshaft bolts to the diff? Or just tighten.

Wish you had a video of the noises it was causing at speed. I suspect my pinion bearing being bad but I dont know how to properly diagnose the sounds I hear

Toward the end you mentioned you swapped over a "13-50" flange. Is that necessary for any axle swap or was there something specific about yours? I'm getting ready to swap the rear axle on my EcoDiesel (I tow our travel trailer a LOT) and want to make sure I have all my bases covered. Thanks!

MAN! That's alot play for the pinion Jon. At least for now you know how to check for excessive wear or play on your rear axle. It could have been worse if the rear axle gave out or snapped while you were pulling the trailer to Texas. I hope no more problems with the rear axle.

I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500, the rear universal flange broke while driving about 30 mph the drive shaft dropped and a few seconds after before we could get off the road the rear of the truck catapulted us up I got out pulled the drive shaft out put the truck in 4wd tried to dr forward it would not however I could dr in reverse. I drove home jacked up the rear of truck and the rear wheels will only roll backwards any idea what's going on???

Wonder if it's from towing heavy loads?
@BoostedMotorsports2 жыл бұрын
Yeah apparently the crush sleeve can wear as well from heavy loads too causing the pinion bearings to fail. This new one has a crush sleeve eliminator on it too so it should be one less failure point

LMFAO, You're buddy Jason is funny! "Yeah, it's been abused quite a bit, but it's good enough for you John"! That's too funny, it kind of sounds like what I would say!

Why don't you change the title to "Complete rear end housing removal/replace" instead of rear axle? Big difference

well that's one way to change the rear end gears haha ;)

This way you get rid of the bent axle housing.
@hunterdan20022 жыл бұрын
I don't think it was bent, he had a tire with a broken belt that was causing the weird wear issues
