Great video. I imagine that Kubota sets the pressure at a rate that is safest for the operator and non damaging to the tractor but as you demonstrated the tractor can do a lot more when tweaked. Also as you mentioned there are a lot of factors to consider when making adjustments so that you don't cause damage to you or your tractor so thanks for that. Looking forward to how things work out.

The hydraulic pressure on my machine is 1900 - That explains why I could not pull the T-posts with my loader. I have a shim kit, but I don’t think I will be increasing the pressure. But, it is nice to know what is available. Enjoyed your video - take care - cheers
@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment 2 жыл бұрын
Haha yah that deffinelty could be why.. plus the higher your loader is in the air the more lift you loose so depending on the height at which you started trying to pull them out at that coulda taken some power away from you also. Most people are content with 2,000 and it seems to be very safe.. so if you ever increase it I would just go up 100psi if you are properly ballasted ans it should be all the power you’d ever need. Thanks for watching man

Took my bx to right around 2,000psi from 1750-1800 and it was a night and day difference does everything i ask it to do. I can lift around 575lbs at the bucket lip 3ft off the ground and factory is supposed to be around 390 at the pins on the la181. Side note, anyone wanting to do this, not 10 minutes after i increased the pressure the bucket cylinder started leaking due to old seals not able to hold the psi. Fresh rebuild and its been flawless for over 2 years now but its very likely it will cause issues just be prepared to fix them and understand the risks involved. Ps, working for a kubota dealer makes it nice for replacing parts....makes me want to try 3,000psi...🤔
@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing your experience Darren, I agree I think 2000psi is plenty for most people out working their tractor around their hard doing your average lifting and what not with it.. Good to know you had some seals leak as they got older after you increased it.. that confirms what I always thought which was it’s putting more pressure on the cylinder seals the higher you adjust it. I’m glad you got them replaced and it’s been all good now for you. I’ll keep you guys posted if I ever have any issues with mine 👍🏻

I got a 3 Point 50mm receiver hitch for my BX and made up a box with a 50mm towbar Hitch. Filled the box with Rocks and sand and all good. The weight and other things sit on wheeled Trolleys in the shed so they are easy to move around and Connect up. Having just the receiver hitch makes it SO much quicker and easier than stuffing round with the 3 Point. Also made up a plough, a rake and a set of forks that all fit the receiver hitch. Want to add some shims to mine. Not just for the weight lift increase but for the Curl and getting things to move faster as they are pretty slow on the BX compared to my 1025.

Very nice man! It’s nice when your able to roll around the weight as well when your not using it..I built a little weight bracket cart for mine that I’m able to use to dolly my weights around with when I take them off. Having the weights on the receiver hitch as well as other implements does work out really good, very easy to swap them out when you need to and installing them is just as easy, I know heavy hitch makes a backblade ans some other implements that use the receiver hitch, I really like this idea also but having a quick hitch on mine it really is just as easy to pickup and connect but it’s more money for sure. I have a Heavy Hitch - When I bought it, I decided to find weights local. I have a Kubota dealer 10 minutes away. Went there and they wanted $15 more each than the JD weights! That's a lot for the orange paint, so I picked up 8 of the JD weights! It's been 2 years and I never got around to painting them (and they still look new) I also run 70lb wheel weights
@BiffsEquipment

Good to know! I agree the paint Job on these weights are super good, I’m debating if I should even paint them or not because if I paint them I know it’s not gonna last as good as their paint is.. I may just sell my heavy hitch weights and buy 4 more JD weights so they all match and call it a day honestly. Amazing that Kubota wants $15 more each that’s kinda surprising cuz JD parts are usually twice the price of Kubota lol. Thanks for the comment!

I bumped my BX2680 up to 2000 psi 2 years ago. That gives me way more lifting power. My ballast box is a home built 30 gallon plastic barrel with a draw bar through it, a 2" receiver out the back, 3 point connection out the top and filled with some steel weights and then concrete. I figure about 400 pounds total. This works great, fits between the 3 point arms and only hangs about 10-12" past the arms, so it's not like having a box blade swinging around the back of the tractor.

Very cool man, that’s a good idea what you did.. you def shouldn’t have any issues ever lifting the rear tires up now either so that’s good! @BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment 2 жыл бұрын
Yah man I totally agree, the Heavy-Hitch weights just don't seem worth it to me.. specially cuz they are cut so rough and weigh even less.. but the fact that they are more expensive to boot is icing on the cake not to get them over the JD Suitcase Weights. Thanks for your comment!

Biff, I have a four ft back blade and 8 of those 42 lb JD weights, when I need ballast I put the back blade on and put the 8 weights right on the back blade, the slot in the weights fit right over the top lip on the back blade, gives me a lot of ballast because of the added weight of the back blade plus the weights. Works out really well for me.
@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment 2 жыл бұрын
Very cool man, Yah when I use to have a backblade I would often throw my weights on the back of it if I was grading out a very tough driveway and the weights would help the backblade to cut deeper.. that prolly works excellent as well for ballast for you too being that the weight is so far back.. you’ll never have any issues picking the rear end up with that setup I bed. Great video. I just have to say though that the BX and 1023/1025r are a pretty fair comparison, I can’t think of any other tractor that are closer in weight, hydraulic specs, and price from factory. Both have their ups and downs. In terms of lift capability from factory or mods it would still be the same result. The 1025 will out lift the BX if both were set to the same hydraulic specs. And I don’t think that comes down to rear ballast but more on the geometry of the front loader. There is tons of videos out there to compare the two and better demonstrate this. If the tractor works great for you, it doesn’t matter whether one lift more or another, it fits your need.
@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks man, I agree that they are a fair comparison in the fact of price, size, weight, and class.. I was just saying I didn’t feel it was all that fair when showing lift capacity only because I know Kubota sets theirs sooo low and often times it’s not even set to spec from the factory it’s often set BELOW spec.. which puts it at a huge disadvantage when someone compares each machines lifting abilities.. with them both set at the same pressure and rear ballast the results would be much closer is all I was saying.. but yes going stock against stock is also fair because well .. that’s how they are made so I agree with your point also. I have to say your video is well done and entertaining. I'm sure your efforts will work for a while. Hydraulics a very dangerous thing to be played with. You dont want to be in line with a pinhole leak from a hose. Never mind bending or breaking axles. I have BX23s, I can see why one would want more from it but then you should just get a bigger tractor. I wonder if kubota loves you or ?
@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment Жыл бұрын
Haha thanks John I’m glad you enjoyed it buddy. Your absolutely correct, hydraulics are nothing to mess with if you don’t know what your doing and if you done understand the cause and affect of what you do when you increase the pressures beyond spec. So far my BX has handled this pressure just fine even tho I work it incredibly hard specially when I’m digging and tearing out stumps. Iv been very impressed with its abilities once I added a bunch of ballast to the machine and increased the pressure .. thing is a beast for its size. In most cases people would be better off buying a larger tractor if they needed more lift but for a lot of guys including kneels the small compact size of the BX is exactly what we need specially once we are able to increase the lift. You should check out the video I did “Kubota bx Bs. JD one series” in that video I also talked about the lift and go into a little more detail of why the Bx needs more pressure to level it out with the One series.. thanks for watching!

Thanks Phil
@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment Жыл бұрын
Hey Phillip, sorry I’m just seeing your comment buddy, that’s great to hear you upped it to 1950, 1750 was low for spec and would def loose some lifting capabilities. As far as the backhoe it won’t matter as they backhoe runs off a separate releif valve.. so you will still wanna set yours around 1950 which is spec.. if you go any high just be careful. Mine is currently at 2450 which is awesome for what I do but it’s also extremely risky specially with out proper ballast and you can easily blow a line or hurt the hydraulic pump. I have no warentee left on my tractor so I didn’t really care. Best of luck and be safe!

My little BX1500 is almost embarrassing. It is a hard worker, but the lift capability is almost a joke. I purchased it used with the LA181 Loader and Mid-deck..... and almost immediately found out why the Seller was so accepting of an offer $1200 Below asking price. *He had cleaned up the mess(leak) on the front axle and dodged Demoing the 4wd - Which was damaged from Low Fluid. But that is another story and I have collected all the parts to hopefully get it back to usable. The 3 point can handle 1000+lbs with ease and my Carry-all will hold at least that much for Ballast. I am suspicious of the actual current operating pressure as the Loader cannot lift more than 5-6 empty pallets. Once the Front axle is addresses and a General Service is completed(800hr.) I will get the pressure reading and make an adjustment to around 2000PSI. My Intent is to be able to move 1/2 Totes made from 330 Gal. IBC Tote cut in half. As it stands they are 1/6 cord ea. full but the Kubota can only lift them when less than 1/2 full = 1/12 cord. (Sad)

Will the shims at 2200psi work out ok on my BX23S? Also, when testing the pressure. Do you pull the throttle wide open?
@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment 2 жыл бұрын
2200 is over the factory spec.. spec on our machines is about 1900psi so anything higher and your taking a risk either hurting your pump, bending your loader, blowing a hydraulic cylinder seal, or blowing a line.. so as long as you know the risks you should be ok. Also be sure to have plenty of rear ballast when you do this because if you don’t have proper weight in the back after increasing your pressure then you will never able to keep your rear tires on the ground which defeats the purpose of increasing the pressure cuz it’s hard to lift something heavier when your rear tires just come up off the ground haha. As long as you are aware of all that then yes 2,200 should be ok, there are tons of guys at pressures between 2,000 and 2,200 and none of them have had any issues including me

Hey Dave, as long as you match them in size to a regular washer you should be fine, that’s what I did for a few of mine.. just be careful about the thicknesses as if you go up too much pressure too fast you can def break something. I'm my personal experience. Most hoses cylinder and other hydraulic parts can handle 2500psi. the problem start when everything is running heavy. Then you drive over a pot hole and then everything will bounce. It the bounce that gets you worried about your equipment.
@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment Жыл бұрын
Hey Sam. Yes I agree, if they say they can handle 2500psi that doesn’t mean you should increase your pressure to 2500psi because you can go way over that pressure limit when pushing or pulling on the hydraulic cylinders.. it’s always a gamble going higher than the rated pressure and I agree not enough people realize how easy it is to go over when you have your pressure set to the max like this.. that being said I believe these hoses are usually always underrated by quite a bit.. I have never had a single hose blow out or leak to this day and I’m still running the exact same pressure. Thanks for your comment!

@wildbill23c
@wildbill23c 2 жыл бұрын
Sounds about right. Some of those blocks are heavier than others, especially if you find some of the older ones. I have a pallet of about 30 of those blocks, I swear each one weighs different than the next LOL. I'm fine with the amount of weight my loader can lift as I don't have filled tires and only have a tiller or box blade for rear ballast right now. I don't mind if its lift capacity is a little lower, less of a chance for me to screw something up LOL. It handles the dirt and gravel that I move around just fine so no complaints on capacity for me. I don't have a gauge to test the pressure with and really don't care what its set at as I'm not going to change it anyways, it does what I need to do, and it has surprised me at the capabilities it has but then again this is my first tractor, I've had lawn/garden type tractors but never anything like this, first time actually operating a tractor and loader, so everything for me is a very large learning experience...I'm waiting on my pallet forks and mower deck, been close to a month since I got the tractor, still waiting on forks and mower, getting a little agitated though paying for implements I don't have. Wish now I would have waited and ordered the Artillian forks, or some other brand because I kind of really need them as they're part of my implement/attachment storage plan LOL.

Hi, your videos are very helpful, I was looking at doing mine , my dealer told me I don’t need shims to do it can be done by turning a set screw, do you know about this or is it bs?
@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks buddy glad your enjoying my videos I hope they are helping lots of people. As far as turning a screw, there is no screw on a Kubota Bx that will adjust the relief pressure.. the only way to increase it is to add shims on top of the shims that are already in it. Now if you have a differnt model tractor specially an older model tractor some tractors did indeed have a turn screw with a jam nut.. but Kubota did not use thus style on the BX and neither does many other more modern tractor company’s

@@fastpapa1942 no problem man. I always liked a pushbox the best.. specially for a beginner as they are much easier to control and get use to.. easier to adjust and set the shims too and no extra hydraulics or anything involved. Just drop and push. Also they are much cheaper than a plow and still get the job done. A plow is better tho for really deep snow but for anything 1 foot or less the pusher will usually do a really nice job so long as you have proper ballast on the rear of your tractor. Fill your rear wheels if they aren’t already and add ballast to the back.. you’ll want at least four 42lb suitcase weights minimum I’d say. This all will help your tractor put the power to the ground and be much more efficient with everything that you do, it will be much more stable as well.

I don’t see why a larger pump wouldn’t be the direction to go if you want more lift, by time you buy the special light weight forks for the bx you are in the neighborhood of a used pump. I have an Eaton 70145 attached to a cheapo harbor freight 670cc gas engine and it pushes 20gpm, I very rarely find something the tractor won’t lift. With clamp on bucket pallet forks I’ve lifted pallets that cause the rear tires to lift off the ground while using a Bradco 509 fully extended for counterweight on the back. Someone needs to take it to the next level on these bx tractors!

I tried increasing my hydraulic oil pressure to my Kubota bx2680 by adding shims, but ran into a problem. My tractor was originally running at 1650psi (rated to run 1750- 1850) so I added a couple shims to try getting at least 2000psi. When I checked the pressure gauge after adding the shims to my tractor, it showed just over 2500psi. This is obviously too much so I removed all the shims I added, and checked the pressure again. It was still over 2500psi. I don't know what to do. Any help is much appreciated!

Wow that’s strange, sounds like you may have gotten a shim stuck in your spring, or maybe your spring is getting hung up on something, also double check to make sure you have removed ALL the springs from beneath the spring because with the oil at the bottom they like to stick to the bottom and you may think you have them all out when really there is still more in there. I would double check that all of the shims have been completely removed and that the spring looks ok, clean it out with some brake clean and put it back in and try again.. let me know what happens thanks

@@BiffsEquipment The problem was my seat relief valve was stuck. I guess I over tightened the bolt at first, but I don't know. I took out the spring and poppet relief and put the bolt back on. Then, I ran the tractor with full rpms and moved the loader lever to one side. The pressure of the hydraulic fluid moving through seat relief valve pushed it back out. I removed all the shims from the bolt and reinstalled the bolt with spring and poppet relief. The tractor read 2100psi which is exactly what I wanted from the beginning! Was a weird experience and I found out not much people have this issue but I'm happy I figured it out.

@@RB2G100 wow yah I mean thay can certainly happen I suppose, you may have also had a small piece of debris in there as well that got trapped inside or between the spring coils or the shims which Temporaly increased the pressure.. it’s working now tho and that’s all that matters and as long as you don’t mess with it again it should stay working so you should be all set. 2100psi is a good number to be at.. I wouldn’t go any higher. Glad it all worked out and stay safe!

I have the same issue right now, so are you saying the plunger was stuck or is inside the housing where the spring with bolt screws in another seat in there ? I see the chamber in the housing has a hole but it doesn’t like up perfect with the home in the housing for that create my higher pressure I took the spring out and worked hydraulic opened the bolt and the little plunger was out so u looked at it stuck it back in and spring it Drillopped tk about 2300 now still little high

@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment Жыл бұрын
Yah bascislly .. they are just super thin washers with set thicknesses .. if you find you have to add quite a bit then you can go to the hardware store and find a washer that mimicks the stock shims in diameter and take all the shims out and just add your washer and then test it and if you still need more then you can add the factory shims from there to dial it in. That’s what I did.. I have a couple washers in mine I think

Hey David, haha yes you’d be assuming right. This def isn’t something you should be doing if your under warentee but if you really feel it’s needed iv seen people who have done it and then when they go in for warentee work they just remove the shims and put it back to stock.. not saying it’s right.. just mentioning as Iv heard of people doing this before when they really feel they have needed the extra power.. tho going up as high as I have can be very risky, not only for damaging the machine but hurting yourself as well.. so be careful if you do this and do your research first 👍🏻

It does everything I want it to, and fits perfectly for the types of jobs and small residential areas I work in.. also doesn’t leave deep ruts in the spring and fall.. now with the pressure increased it lifts all I could ask it to and Iv yet to have a single issue beating the living crap out of this machine. At some point I’d like to go with a B-series but anything larger than an LX series Kubota is just gonna be much too large for my needs.

I was disappointed in this test. Jacking the pressure from 1950 to 2400psi only lifted the same load a bit higher. I expected you should have been able to add three more blocks and raised it all the way. ??? I believe you have seen my 'loads', but my test will be with the six sheets of 1" plywood on my pallet forks. I do not know what my hydraulic pressure is, but I hope if I shim it a bit more, the FEL should lift with another full sheet, which is 90 pounds. Maybe soon, when I get time from my 100 chores around the yard.
@BiffsEquipment
@BiffsEquipment Жыл бұрын
Let me know what you find out.. but yes at 2400 psi it only managed to lift the same as the Deere 1 series.. this is because the Deere has a MUCH closer loader to the front of the tractor giving it a massive as advantage when it comes to lift but which also gives it very poor visibility when operating the loader over the BX which is so easy to work with. I have used both John Deere and kubota to do loader work over the years and Kubotas are always much easier to operate with out having to look so hard and think so hard about what your doing.. also Kubota hydraulics are much smoother.. in the end I was just happy it was able to lift the same as a factory Deere because they are no slouches when it comes to lift and I feel that’s more than enough because at that pressure I have to run 650-700lbs of total ballast to keep my rear end nicely planted on the ground.. cuz If your raising the rear then there’s no point in adding more pressure
@ya472
@ya472 Жыл бұрын
@@BiffsEquipment Would you know the lift cylinder size on the JD? I believe the Kubota is 1 3/4 inches? I saw someone is attempting to produce and sell larger lift cylinder for the BX, I believe 2 inch, for much greater lift without upping the pressure.
