Can't believe I've only just found this page! I'm quite new to Russian and I love Putin so have been sifting through KZbin to try and find videos of him just speaking and slowing them down myself. He has very good enunciation and holds his mouth in a way that's easy to see how he's forming words. Very difficult to find videos that haven't been dubbed over with English. Super, Kristina! Thank you so much for making this video. You have found a perfect format: interesting material, the chance to listen to you reading it not just once but twice, and then the original words again, joined to the next chunk of dialogue. Please, please continue this format! It would be great, for example for Putin's quarantine speech that you posted with just subtitles.

@Christian Beck Putin is being used as an example because there is plenty of footage of him giving speeches and his russian pronunciation is very clear as it needs to be for giving speeches. Putin being used has nothing to do with political affiliation here and is purely to help assist in understanding russian. He may be a controversial politician but not every appearance of a politician has to do with politics.

@@BoostYourRussian I have a brilliant genius theory about this: maybe Vladimir Putin speaks the Russian language so well with such good pronunciation because he was born in Russia with ethnic Russian parents who spoke the Russian language to him at home and then he also learned the Russian language at a school in Russia while hearing the correct way to pronounce the words on Russian language radio and Russian language television and maybe he had to teach the Russian language to German speaking people at the Stasi MfS office in Dresden in Germany? This is just theory, maybe I am wrong, 😂 hahahaha Also, Спасибо большое for creating this excellent KZbin video that really helps to slow down what he is saying in the speeches.

@BoostYourRussian2 жыл бұрын
It would be easier to answer if you added the timestamp! In general, some people say его, instead of ево, though it´s not common. It´s not wrong, just much less common
@korana63082 жыл бұрын
Yeah , that is what is called a "spoken Russian" which brings palatalization to certain sounds in order to make them easier to pronounce in your mouth. And that is how you should be saying it too. As that is how almost everyone speaks in Russia... In theory the Russian intelligentsia would pronounce those sounds , and perhaps some people in St. Petersburg still do ,but in general ,after the Bolshevik revolution they got rid of the Russian intelligentsia as a class. So you would hear that exact pronunciation now only in "chuch slavonic" during the liturgy ,which preserves those original pronouncements, and in some specific situations, with certain ,usually poetic, intentions (also some rare regional accents and dialects).

Hi -- thanks for the videos. Very cool format. Couple of questions: 1) Are you taking a few liberties with the translations (all my heart vs soul, and next year vs In the coming year, etc...) Just curious because as a beginner I find that I start to use words incorrectly if I don't learn the literal meanings. 2) In a couple of places he says кто where I think it should be кого or которые (всех кто прошел через or всех которые прошел через and помочь тем, кто нуждается) ... an object and not a subject. Can you clarify? Thanks.
@BoostYourRussian4 жыл бұрын
Hi there! I don´t translate word to word if the translation will not make sense to English speakers. Putin is a highly educated native Russian speaker, so the probability that he makes a mistake when he speaks Russian is very little (though he does produce slips of the tongue occasionally). Всех, кто прошел через and помочь тем, кто нуждается is 100% correct.
