I wish I would've passed the physical so I could've served. I chose marines and took the asvab when I was still in high school. I graduated at 19 years old and took the asvab at 18. I scored a 120. It's been 12 years and I still remember my score. Several people I know told me my score was great. Just wanted to know, Narrator, with a 120 what could I have done in the military being someone who also never gives up, has the work ethic of a boomer? I also played football. I didn't play on Friday nights I was a junior varsity guy but I had an ability to read formations, plays and know what opposing teams where going to do before they actually did it. In fact my jv coach allowed me to run or defense any way I chose so I did and we didn't give up any yardage unless cocky underclassmen chose to ignore me and mess things up. I had great mental skills and no quit in me. I've always been curious what I could have done in the military

8:26 my clearest memory from the shark attack was a guy getting off the bus in front of me and he was taking his time. A DS runs up to him, knife hand at the ready, nearly blinds the guy with his Smokey Bear, and screams in the oddest cadence, with emphasis of the Why, ‘WHY… ARE YOU WALKING!?!’ And to this day, it’s the funniest thing to me.

The shark attack was used to train draftees, and is being phased out to better train and retain a volunteer force. From what I recall, every branch has substantial personnel shortages, the Army being 100k under minimums. We're we to go back to a drafted force, then the shark attack would likely come back, but as that would go directly against societal progress, I doubt it would be n easy reversion.
@lordzero-fall9637 ай бұрын
@@Suzuki_Hiakura As someone who has been through a shark attack, it is also a means of shock for new recruits, showing that chaos can and will happen and maintaining a level head and being calm is the best way to get through it. I literally just held my duffle over my head and stared straight ahead without freaking out and didn't get too much trouble. People that panic and freak out are prime targets. Looking around, dropping your bag, any weakness gets attacked by the Drills. The Military isn't a place for feelings and caring at the end of the day. It is the Military, the potential chance of going out to fight in war is why mentally strong and physically capable people are needed and if people can't handle it they need to either learn and get there or get out. When I had guys under my command, I would do everything I could to take care of them, that is when it is time for feelings and care. But in the beginning, the weakness needs to be weeded out. So, I hope a draft never happens, not likely with how no one wants to stay in coz of BS, but if it does... well a lot of hurt feelings will be all over the place and risk lives.

So I am in the Army Cadets (In Australia) and once a year we do AFX (Annual Field Exercise) were we go up to Townsville (The biggest military base in Australia) and we get to look at the weapons, and different units, vehicles, we get to do a live fire, unfortunately we can only use the ef88 Austeyr, and not the Minimi's. Maximi's, MP5's, the handguns, but that's okay, the simulation that they were using to simulate shooting, we call it the WETS (I think it stands for something but not sure) it's such a great time and I recommend that anyone looking to go to the military try out cadets. It's really sad to think that our cadet unit does listens, behaves and does drill better than the Australian Navy (it's the navy, what do you expect) BUT LIKE COME ON. Anyway, love the content man, keep it up!

Yes, fun to fire, sucks to clean, ridiculous to carry during road marches. As a mechanic for an ADA unit, we got to watch the Patriot missile training drills. Those were fun. Of course, my favorite truck was always the LMTV. It was so versatile, spacious, and so easy to work on. I hated driving the Wrecker, it was so damn uncomfortable for anyone over 6 feet tall. Just take the boys to a local range sometime. I'm sure you could set it up. Awesome trip down the ol' memory lane though. Just keep those hands closer to your pecs during pushups next time! I wonder if the Air Force still does the "pick'em up and put'em down" routine? It was done when the Army's shark attack was done and as was explained later, it was a reference to the Army Air Corps/Air Force during wartime-you pick up your bombs and you put em down on the enemy, then you do it again and again and again, until the enemy is no more.
