Aren't both companies "copying" WW2 gov't issue boots? The only concern to me is who does a better job copying?

@@barneyfyfe8313 They are indeed reproduction variations and there are many examples from different markers.

Such a classic design. Thanks for pointing out how they copy other brands. Thats exactly what they do. I hate hearing “homage” term, when they really are just knockoffs.

For more Clinch copies, there's this American based made in indonesia brand called Cruxdeluxe. I believe the boots are actually made in connection with Tahura. So lots of horsehide engineers, Jodhpurs, boondockers and monkeyboots.

@@ryanpiyo98 I remember seeing this brand and thinking they look pretty good, but that buckle on the engineer is comically large. I wasn’t considering a Jodhpur at the time, but looking again, those look good. Thank you!

Does the Luis Jet even have a midsole? Looks almost like welt on top of outsole. Like how Red Wing does it.

@@EDHBlvd Good question. I don’t know about the other models, but this specific style calls for this very thin midsoles (or maybe it’s just considered a slip sole?).
@Brajin14 ай бұрын
They don’t have midsoles on that model. Their parent/premium brand XBS boot factory has some crazy high end boots. Many with single and double midsoles. All hand welted, hand stitched. But pretty pricy.

@@Brajin1 Good call out. I don’t know what to call it, a slip sole? It’s like what Red Wing uses. XBXS calls it out as a leather midsole, but Luos Jiet doesn’t mention it. This style calls for it to be thin. On the Yeager it’s even thinner. It is leather though, but I’m guessing what LJ used is not full grain leather or they would have said so. The insole is still leather, but they must be saving money somewhere. The correct ones I’m guessing they have to be cutting even more corners somewhere. The example being not offering this nice Tochigi leather now and upping the previous price of the German leather from $300 to $500.
@ryanpiyo984 ай бұрын
@CsawBoots yup luosjiet lost its appeal to me after raising prices without any meaningful change to the quality of the boots. Most of their makeups do not have a leather midsole.
@CsawBoots4 ай бұрын
@@ryanpiyo98 Yeah, when I saw them remove the Tochigi for $500 and then simply raise the previous options that were $300 to now $500 without any changes, well that’s just sneaky. I don’t have that pair now, but I guess I lucked out getting them when I did. They were well made.

No midsoles, that’s a 270 flat welt and heel rand.
@CsawBoots3 ай бұрын
@@Coleone139 That’s right, no midsoles. This style doesn’t call for one, so not a problem. But the other styles from LJ that could be a miss.
