You file off rough iron casting before you go about other tasks... This means it actually ends up better than it was to begin with. Total respect for you and your workmanship! Another stunning result! Cheers from Hobart Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺

Well, the Boot Jack term indicated to me that it might secure the heel of a boot to make it possible for a lone person to remove their boots unassisted. I swear, that did occur to me. Lol. If it were called a "boot bomb", I would assume that it was for self foot amputation.

Too funny. My mother just a few weeks ago gave me the exact same one! She had outside in her garden for the past 15+ years near the Oregon coast. It is still in excellent condition, though covered in about 50% rust and 50% original black patina coating. However it doesn't have any country of origin marking on it. Not sure if that makes it original or a knock-off.

I'd one of these up in the yard to take off my riding boots and muddy wellies.
