These are my dads boots, he originally bought them around 2006 as a dress boot and then started wearing them for every day use. He works as a machinist and wore them for several years. His intention was to just throw them away instead of repairing them because they were cheap, but I held onto them when he threw them out… a lot of people suggested that it’s from a motorcycle but surprisingly he’s not a motorcycle rider. My guess is that they got a lot of miles on them from walking on the shop floor You guys did an amazing job on these thank you so much. In the future the boots will be in your shop for regular maintenance to avoid this…..
@chrishebert56722 жыл бұрын
I was thinking he rode a motorcycle and always put his left foot down, as the right shoe sole wasn't worn nearly as badly, but you would definitely know. I wonder if he worked some sort of pedal with his left foot? When my father died in 1983, I kept and wore one of his pair of dress shoes for many years. Too bad there was no internet and Trenton & Heath back then, or I'd have sent them in to make them like new again. Great job on the restoration, guys.

What did your dad think of the repair?
@chriswillman58292 жыл бұрын
@@chrishebert5672 I bet it could have been a machine like a lathe with a pedal that caused the wear so intensely. My other guess is the clutch pedal on the manual vehicles we had but I’m not sure that’d be aggressive enough to cause the wear.. I know he replaced them instead of repairing them because of how bad they were and I kept them because I thought they were cool…. After the hard work of the guys my dad is amazed at how the boots turned out and will wear them as a dress boot im sure

@@thedoor5442 My dad is really shocked and amazed at how they came out. It is crazy to see the difference. Trenton and heath did some great work on these. I’m sure they will become his favorite pair of boots again, this time receiving some care..

They did an amazing job. The uppers looked a lot better quality than the insole, sole, and heel so with the much higher quality of those parts, those boots should last for a long time to come.

I can honestly say that I have done this to a couple of pair of cowboy boots. First, I wore them daily, regardless of weather, I just wore them, (they were very comfortable). Second, wore them on all surfaces especially rough concrete or rough roads. Third, I didn't follow a rule I learned in the Marines, change boots/shoes on a regular basis so as to keep an even wear pattern. I could go on and on about why I wore them to the point of trashing beyond being wearable. I just wore them because they were comfortable, and I trusted the boots to protect my ankles and legs from harm.

Now, this was awesome. The before and after on these boots is just incredible. Replacing as much as you did, but still saving the uppers, was really impressive; you preserved the "showy" part and rebuilt the hard-working part completely. This actually saved these boots when some would have just tossed them and bought a new pair. This was great! Cheers from Texas!

You guys have great skills. I had a friend , growing up in the 50s whose father was a cobbler. I remember watching him carve the leather for the hidden stitches. He used two knives a lot one was a straight blade , tanto style, he would strop that thing after each use and his other was a 4” straight blade with a 1/4 “ razor sharp hook on the end. I think he used that to cut the stitches very close to the welt. Anyway. I watch every minute of your videos. Thank you

I watch a lot of these boot cleaning/rebuilding channels and one day I realized my Walmart brand dress shoes insole was just beat up. Instead of buying a new insole from Walmart. I decided to use cork, I had a cork board for like pins and stuff. I cut out a foot shape and made it my insole I thought for sure this was silly as that is not where the cork goes. Well, been a couple months, the cheap board molded to my feet and it unironically feels better than the stuff form Walmart. Now it comes with drawbacks, not something I would use in my tennis shoes, lol. But for these flat dress shoes? Yeah!
