Excellent Instructional presentation Joe! I'm enjoying being with the Cartel, now I've got to try to find a couple XXL boot trees!

Hey Jim, I’m glad you enjoyed the video and you are a founding member my friend. I’ll see what I can find for the XXL trees.

@@CowboyCartel it's always good to be part of the Family! I just figured with a size 15, that the shoe trees would be xxl, but they're probably just size XL. 👍

Have you had any problems with the shaft collapsing? Would you store your boots upside down?

I have one problem with all my cowboy boots. It is right at the topside of my Arch, the instep high point on the boots where there is usually some type of reinforcement. There isn't much give in that area. When I point my foot to go into the boot the area of the top of my art to my heel is too wide to go into the boot without a lot of work and force. I have literally taking the skin off the top of my Arch. It is the only area that I need to be stretched because once I have the boot on it fits perfectly. No other places needs stretching. Which boot stretcher do you recommend to utilize for this specific area?

I had exactly the same issue with a new pair of Ariat's. Ram a Baseball down there and push it into place so you can see it pushing up against the arch. If the ball is to small, use a small piece of foam padding under it so it pushes tight enough. once in place - leave it for 24 hours and see the difference. I literally couldn't get my right boot on and within 24 hours, it went straight on, no tightness. I then wore them for 8 hours straight - no more issues.

Thank you for this. I just had an opportunity of acquiring a pair of Lucchese. Ever since the purchase I’ve been learning a lot about boots already ie the importance of a boot jack. However, the tightness in certain points was a slight issue. It looks like I I’ll be purchasing a boot stretcher, boot tree, and conditioner. I have a secondary question, is it ideal to purchase a 3/4 heel insole rather than a full length insole, if the full length insole causes the entire boot to be too tight ( this with thin socks on) or could I use a boot stretcher to open up the entire inside of the boot a little more?

I like the non-padded DarnTough Snowboard socks for boots that are on the snug side. Keeping trees in the boot will definitely help keep them from getting too tight. I have a pair of Leddy Calf that will shrink up while I am wearing them and you almost can’t get a tree in them, by the next day they are fine again. A stretcher will give you some extra room, but depending on the leather, could shrink back pretty quickly, boots are hard to fit perfectly, and different leather reacts differently. Good luck and I would suggest joining the Cowboy Cartel Facebook group. We are going to be devoting some more time to boots soon. Thanks for watching and the comment.

@@CowboyCartel thank for the advice. I will certainly be purchasing the boot trees. Today I found out that I had leather insoles and that all I needed to do was go the process of wearing them through the “pain”. After a few hours they were feeling very comfortable to the point me wife was like, “ you’re still wearing those boot?”, “ when you gonna take ‘em off?”, etc etc.

I have size 12,what size tree should I buy
@CowboyCartel2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the brand, and they should have a sizing guide. Stratton linked in the description calls for an XL, Lucchese you can use L or XL. 10-12 is L and 12-14 is XL

For why the brown boot is looser or softer than the black one, well the manufacturer is correct in the dye colors. All colors have different color molecules lighter colors say the brown has more red molecules than the black (which has more blue molecules} , and red molecules are the largest color molecule so the brown boot has less molecules making it softer and the black has more of the blue molecules making them tighter (say for instance a tighter weave in material is stiffer than a loose weave is softer, less stitches) . There is more to color theory but that is generally why the brown is softer to start, lesson coming from an old hairdresser that has to know color theory to color hair properly

You can't just wear them for a week and be good to go????

Agree, I walk the pain out while out around the ranch. Weeks worth of that and they fit perfectly. Not sure how this video came up in my recommendation list but good tips anyway.

When my wife bought her boots they were just a hair too small in that top of the foot area. All I did was fill a bag full of water and stick it in the boot. Then I put them in the freezer and the ice stretched the boot out enough for her to be comfortable. On a side note, I’m with y’all, I bought my first pair 11 years ago, put them on and went to Universal City Walk and put 6.18 miles on them. Still my favorite pair of shoes/boots to this day.
