I went to their factory a few days ago to look at the seconds in their factory shop, really lovely looking factory built in 1890 and expanded in 1935, and got a fantastic deal on a pair of burnished brown half-brogue oxfords.

I was gifted a pair of plain toed derbies by Crockett and Jones and love them very much I’ll admit they take time to break in especially walking in them a period of time especially walking my over active dog I’m finding them quite enjoyable and the linings are very soft. After watching this video I’d be inclined to save up my dollars for these boots they look very cool to wear. My shoes by these guys are a chocolate suede upper very soft to the touch and have the same Dante soles as the boots you reviewed. I wager their leather soled shoes are super durable as well.

I have a pair of those boot since 2006, I have worn out the sole three times and the uppers still fine. great boots, I really recomend them. I also have four pairs of CJ shoes, And I think it´s been a great inversion, although not cheap, but the quality and durability make them cheap.

You can be assured that none of the Northampton shoemakers put a full toecap on any of their boots. There are some work boots that have them but even so it is comparatively rare. Crocket and Jones have a very useful section on their website about sizing. I’d encourage anyone thinking of getting a pair to consult it. They even advise how to measure your feet at home and say they will happily advise anyone who has doubts.

Thanks for the great review! It was very informative!! I just ordered a pair in Dark Brown Scotch Grain. Hopefully the sizing is correct - I used their online measurements, which resulted in me ordering a half size above my normal size (hoping I don't need to send them back). Can't wait to add them to my shoe collection.

I'm planning on buying the Coniston on my trip to London if I find the right fit. I have rather large feet 13 1/2 D US but all US boots fit me great in 13D. I do have some Trickers Stow in UK 13 and fits as long as I wear a thick hiking sock.

Crockett n jones is one of favourite brands safe bet never go wrong. You mentioned you last toe hurts for sometimes during the wearing of the condition boots. I had similar experience when trying on the Crockett n jones loafers. You may want to try out different lasts to see the best fit for your foot that’s what I did to fix this problem when I was in the show room trial

I visited their store in midtown Manhattan a few weeks ago to try on their wingtip shoes. A UK 12G (wide) fit me beautifully and the leather was excellent. I am definitely contemplating getting them. Unfortunately, they don't make many of their boots in a G width; I like the look of those boots!
@h2489-m2l Жыл бұрын
I think they will custom make the boot you want. I was visited in London by a colleague over from NY a while back and the first thing he did was walk into C&G and order a pair of custom boots! I didn't even know they did it.

C&J benchgrade are about as high up the boot food chain I go. Discounts are very hard to find on C&J but all my boots were bought in sales. I own 3 pairs of C&J boots and one pair of shoes. My shoes are on the 325 last as are my dark brown Coniston boots and I find them a little snug on the toes like you and also a little lose at the heel but still reasonably comfortable with the right socks. I have two pair of the discontinued Eskdale 2 boots which are built on the 378 last and find that suits my feet better with a wider toe box and a snugger heel. Should your wallet recover sufficiently to dip into English boots again I can recommend Cheaney despite their recent significant price hike as they can often be bought with much better discounts (Wait for the Jeanstore twice yearly sales) . I think their 12508 last would suit you well and their Jarrow boot is my favourite boot. My experience has been that their materials and QC have been rising over the last few years though they're not quite at C&J levels of refinement and consistency.
@duethe6929 Жыл бұрын
interesting, any experience with Edward Green?
@UnknownUser-rb9pd Жыл бұрын
@@duethe6929 No, a bit too rich for my taste. I have a silly number of boots but know how easy it is to damage boots and think I would cry if I ever did that to an Edward Green. So, ignoring hiking boots, I have a lot of boots from brands such as Loake, Barker, Meermin, Thursday, Red Wing, Chippewa, Berwick 1707, NPS etc.. My better boots consist of ten pairs of Cheaney, the three C&J benchgrade mentioned, a couple of pairs of Carmina boots, 2 pairs of Grant Stones and 4 pair of Trickers. So, if I'd been sensible and only bought a sane number of boots I could easily have owned Edward Green without spending any extra money but the laws of diminishing returns made me stop. I just don't have any desire to go that high end and I have already started reducing the number of boots that I own but could see myself buying another C&J or two if I saw something discounted and it really appealed to me.
@carlosgarcia9373 Жыл бұрын
Hi. Your comment is interesting. Have you posted your Jarrow boots on Reddit? That would be great to see them like others have posted. Also, what kind of Thursday boots do you have?
@UnknownUser-rb9pd Жыл бұрын
@@carlosgarcia9373 I tend to avoid forums generally. I have the Jarrow boot in both chicago tan Chromexcel and black Chromexcel leather and also have pretty much the same boot from Herring shoes called the Badminton also made by Cheanney. The Badminton has two speed hooks and a similar leather to Chromexcel but I think it is slightly different leather and not made by Horween. Regarding Thursday boots I own several pairs of Captain boots, Vanguard boots and their President boot. I also own two pairs of the wedge sole Diplomat boots. I like the variety of leathers that Thursday do and they are boots you can just wear without worrying what happens to them. They also suit my foot shape well and are quite comfortable to wear. I think they are better than their price suggests, especially if you stick to their more processed leathers like chromexcel or Thursday's own version of the CXL leather or Thursday's rugged and resilient leathers which are usually oily nubuck leather Their calf leathers can be a little hit or miss cosmetically though I've never had a structural problem with their boots.
