Actually, he did exist. In his ti e hewas kniwn as Saint Christopher. He was a monk who lived in a tiny poor mountain town a few hundred years ago. I cannot recall the name of this country, somewhere in eastern Europe i think. He used to gift food and toys he made to the children of the village during the winter snow seasons when food was low due to lack of crops, to bring them some joy in a time of hardship. This caught on, and soon people would gift each other every winter, and soon they all started to prosper. So, technically, yes, Santa Claus did once truly exist.

My Father Christmas here in Adelaide Sth Australia was an Aboriginal man. I’m talking the ‘60s. He was perfect. As a child I saw him as the big FC. When through the year I would see him gathering the shopping trollies, it was a special secret. 🤗

God, it’s been 5 years since I’ve been back to Aus, my family still live in Adelaide, in Kensington and Redwood Park. I love seeing fellow Adelaidians 😍❤️

Disagree w your take on this. Christmas is based off and or associated w Christianity. It can't be "whatever you want it to be" and call it as such

Then make St. Nicolas a tan skinned Greek-Turkish skinny man like he was when he actually existed, and not the fat white guy coca cola created to brainwash people like you to buy more colas. Also dont do the christmas tree stuff, just baked bread pies like the original St. Nicolas distributed. Nothing of current christmas is christian btw, it's all neo-culture made up by the business industry 😭😭

Actually it can... You can make Santa who ever you want because he's not a real person.... In my house we had brown/black Santa because I'm Puerto Rican and African American. We had brown and black angels as decorations to represent our family. I had friends of different ethnicities have representation at their homes too. Its about representing and seeing yourself in others. If you don't understand that.. Then that's on you

It's not Christian. It goes way back to a Saint Nick who gave gifts to the children. It is joined to Christmas.But has nothing to do with traditional Christianity. The gifts are imitation of the three wiseman offering to the baby Jesus. It's fine that Mrs Claus is played by a black woman.

It's not woke, its just because of the actress that is causing the controversy.

I liked the advert, no issues at all with it. The lady they chose is someone who has made comments about our British royal family being dreadfully white, which makes no sense because of course they are, as are all of us whose ancestry is mostly or solely European. Being white isnt dreadful, its nothing to do with the content of our character.It certainly seems she holds some level of bias against white people which is somewhat bigoted, but she's entitled to her opinions. I wish they'd chosen one of the many black actresses who aren't racist, though I suspect she was chosen because she's controversial.
@pennyrichards801922 сағат бұрын
I would just like for non-christians to leave Christmas alone. If you're not making about Christ then call it something else. Like "going into debt to buy junk because you think you have to" day😂
@rosemaryjoynson744723 сағат бұрын
I take your points onboard and they have muted my feeling to it a little. But I think it I’d the actress that has caused the issue due to her comments about the Royal family.

Sorry I disagree with you for once. Father Christmas is typical European tradition so no, it’s now whatever you would like it to be. You would not try to portray prophet Mohammed as black women so maybe don’t do it to other traditions and religions.

Traditions are fluid. Even the term "Father Christmas" is a bit passe''. Get over it. 😊
@bobbiejojackson944821 сағат бұрын
I've got to agree. It drives me nuts that people are blaming the issue surrounding this ad, on racism or sexism or xenophobia, yadda, yadda, yadda because that's not what it's about at all, for the vast majority of people who oppose it. It's about hundreds of years of traditions (or more) being ousted by woke companies that are tearing them down and replacing them with very controversial and frankly, unwanted ideologies. There's an obsession these days with changing the definitions/meaning and traditions that people have come to know and love, that have been passed down through generations. Obviously, progress can be a positive thing in certain areas, but in others, it just ends up being the opposite... regressive and destructive. This has nothing to do with race and its 100% about people who are genuinely tired of being told, everywhere they turn, that they're monsters and bigots and evil, for simply wanting to keep the traditions that they've known and loved, from being obliterated.
@gemlouise126021 сағат бұрын
@@TatianasWingsTraditions can evolve naturally over time. It's a bit different when you have a group of idealogues trying to force fluidity through using tactics such as shame and intimidation though. The more it's pushed, the harder it gets rejected. Which is why Americans of all backgrounds just voted the way they did.

Unfortunately Christ -Mass Has been taken over by Ad Companies, to make money , nothing to do with the true meaning of Christ -Mass .. Remember Jesus wasn’t white, nor blonde depicted in paintings!.. Think where he came from .. Doesn’t matter what the Ad is , or portrays !. The true meaning has been long gone !. It’s about people going in to Debt just for 1 day !… Everything is about Greed !..

In terms of the commercial, I love it. For all we know, this could only be Mrs Claus' half of the workshop as well. I'm sure elves aren't an only male population either. In terms of who they cast to do it, wasn't she the same one who made comments about the royal family being too white?
@jexpiperUK23 сағат бұрын
Well overegging the diversity thing is quite woke. But at least this isn't racewashing since, as you say, Mrs Claus is a kind of universal fictional character. It's racewashing specific characters like Hermione that's the problem.
@FluffyStuff-13Күн бұрын
I thought the commercial was cute! Usually when stuff on yt or TikTok are labeled woke it’s something else entirely that makes you feel uncomfortable. People need to get over it, it’s just an advertisement and there’s nothing wrong here, there’s he/she and they said, covers all bases, and honestly every Xmas I’ve ever seen it IS the women in our family (usually me and me mom) doing all the work! And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, as usually in traditional families the father or male figure deserves a day off or two from work!(liam I advise you take full advantage of this haha) you guys are adorable and I love that you try to see it from other’s perspectives

Also as a side note, why can’t father Xmas have a mixed relationship?! We are in 2024 peeps!

Sure show diversity, how about doing it without stepping on or eliminating traditional narratives that more of the global population resonate with. Otherwise expect backlash especially given people are quickly getting over and challenging DEI and woke agendas.
@tas955115 сағат бұрын
Darling, instead of rewriting traditional stories from one part of the world, why not invented a new one and see if it catches on. You're trying to see something as an innocent adaptation, but it isn't. There's much more going on here, and not everyone likes it. Doing stuff like this ruffles feathers and upsets people, no need to do this to make a point, unless you want to. New stories are needed, not new arguments. Merry Christmas.

Maybe it was just me but as a kid I always believed that the Mrs Clause was heavily involved in running the workshop and looking after the elves. Bing Crosby (at least I think it was him) even did a song about it. So, to me this ad is just a modern take on that song.

@elenag937512 сағат бұрын
I personally don't have an issue with the advert itself. However, it feels like it was created with the sole purpose of creating controversy and being talked about (in which case they've done a brilliant job!). It is obvious that (unfortunately) the world is still not accepting of certain groups and they've tried too hard to the extent it feels forced. A black Mrs Clause, women power, trans, drag queens, different races.... They have added it all! And don't get me wrong, I personally love the diverse representation but most people don't and are not ready for so much in one go! So of course it was gonna have the opposite effect. I wish it wasn't needed, but it needs to be done in smaller doses if it really wants to make a genuine impact and genuinely normalise it. Choose your battles and slow and steady wins the race (although I wish it hadn't to be like this still in 2024...)

I effing hate bill cosby but I still remember Dr H telling Olivia when she asked about interracial Santa’s in the shopping malls that Santa changed races as he came down the chimney… idk that she believed her grandfather in the episode or not… but it’s been my head cannon for years.
