I like the movie but the anti capitalist message behind it is dumb. Capitalism is about driving innovations. You gotta work smart and hard in this system. if you are not smart and don't make great life choice, why should other people need to make up for it? It's cruel relentless, but that is life. Competition drives creativity. Why do most technology come out of us? I am socially left but the left have zero idea on how economics works(at least the far left) they think throwing money at everything fixes the issue. If we raised the minimum wage, what is going to happen to the cost of living? If your local market double their payroll, are they gonna jack up their price? If an employee get the same amount of money but work only half of time, would he choose to work half of time? You can adjust the the minimum wage but all the other variable is gonna change, in the end, nothing is gonna change except you just mess with the invisible hand and that hand is gonna stick its finger up everyone's ass

Public defender for example is a social safety net, every lawyer on there gets about 7 min to review one case before hearing. Why does it suck? Because it's run by the government, like your usps, like any of the government agency. What are the incentives to improve their service? Steve job wasn't asked by us government to make the iPhone, he wants it, he know he can profit from it. I'm not a USSR apologist at all, it was a terrible totalitarian state, but you are aware that they were the first to shoot a man into space? Russia went from being a mostly agrarian state in 1917 to becoming a global superpower in a matter of a few decades. The argument you make about wages isn't new at all, Marx responded to that exact claim over 150 years ago. If everyone gets more money, nobody's going to live more wealthy, that is correct, but if you reduce the profit margin of capitalists, the same amount of money just gets distributed in a different way. The often cited "invisible hand" is not about what most people think it is about. Adam Smith used the term to describe that companies wouldn't just outsource their productions into other countries as that would hurt the economy of the nation they're operating in. That, quite obviously, proved to be false. Not only the internet but many major innovations, be it techonological or medical or whatever, are government-funded. Capitalism even sometimes discourages innovation as corporations want to make a profit of a product as long as possible. Companies sometimes buy patents just so nobody else can use them and then wait to sell their current products and sell the patented product as an innovation later on. Lastly, most leftists (though not all) don't want a large government. The original idea of socialism wasn't that the government would control the economy, but that the people as a whole would - like a democratisation of the economy. So if people worked in a factory they would collectively decide how that factory operates. Anarcho-communists as one example reject the idea that there should be a state at all.

And China is doing it now, but thru initial privatization and Xi's transformation of China into a closely gripped authoritanian state. However there is a fundamental flaw in these government styles. They all rely on one single figure or will end up relying on one single source of direction/leadership. Quote me on this, once xi leave the office, China will go down really fast if they can't find an equally competent leader. I disagree with you with on technical innovation being government funded. Internet maybe invented by us military, but only when privatization happened, do we see the tremendous user growth and infrastructure growth. All these internet companies do not spawn from government money. IPhone were made because someone wanted more market shared, and money. So your point on reducing profit margin does not make sense to me. What are the percentage we are looking at and how do we decide that percentage. How do we make sure that we dont have profit margin way too high up there that causes the job creator to stop creating job and just become one of worker. Lastly, while most leftist countries start with good intent and based off sounded Marxist theory. Do we ever have a country succeed or continueing Marxist doctrine? I don't think so. I can give the Venezuela but there is a lot of other example, Cambodia, mao's China, North Korea. Many would argue, there wasn't a true communist society. Well why is it so hard to implement? Could it be that it is just a theory? Keep in mind this is so long ago and Marx is just a theorist with no actual implementation experience. Could it be the greediness of human nature that always corrupt and deviate from the theory?

First point I kind of agree with. The growth Hitler caused I'd argue was less sustainable though than the USSR or China growth as it was so focused on war that it was agressive on an unsustainable level, regardless of the competence of the leader. Second: eh, I still think that could've happened in the hands on the public. It didn't happen prior to that because the military isn't interested in providing a vast infrastructure for the public. As long as capitalists exist, they will always make more money than workers: the idea behind hiring workers is that they generate value for you. You pay them, but you pay them less than what they produce is worth or else there would be no financial reason to hire them at all. The rate of profit margin is concerning how much you pay them less than what they're producing is worth: do you pay them 50% of what they produce is worth or 60% or 90%? The problem with the emergence of democratic socialist states is that they often get shattered by outside forces. The Paris Commune was squashed by Prussia and frances monarchic forces, the Second Spanish Republic was overthrown by Franco and current attempts in the Democratic Federation of Northern Syria (often called Rojava, not to be confused with Assads regime or the rebels fighting against him) are threatened by a turkish invasion among other things. Heck, even Russia was invaded by 4 foreign forces before anyone could have known in wich direction it would develop in 1917. I fully agree with you that nobody should keep to strict Marxist doctrine. The dude had problems and he wrote his book 150 years ago, so large parts of it are completely outdated. There's a lot of lessons to be learned from his works, but nobody can expect to create a working society by just following his instructions (wich were rather vague when it came to actually discribing communism anyway).

Capitalism is simply a system where labor is controlled by a few, authoritative individuals at the top. They supply the market with what will make the most profit, having no concern for the actual needs of the people exploited by said market system or the unaccounted externalities created by day to day operations. Automation will take away majority of the jobs over the next 30 years as capitalists continue to eliminate labor cost in every way possible. Overall this automation will be a good thing, but there will probably be a difficult transition period thanks to the current US political climate (favoring oligarchy over democracy). It will be interesting to see less 3rd world exploitation as robot workforces become a less expensive option.
