I am Danish, and as far as I can see it has more to do with internal danish politics and virtue signalling that he is "on the side of good" or something. Denmark is 1/50th the size of Greenland, but we have 100 times the population of Greenland. Although Greenland technically is a part of Denmark - as long as it lasts - we support them, pay almost all their state budget, but they want increasing levels of autonomy and I see that ending in full sovereignty and Denmark has always supported what Greenland wanted to do and tried to be as helpful as possible making that happen. But I don't expect Greenland would ever want to become part of America.

It was eventually put up to a referendum vote and the area is divided into Northern Schleswig, which is Danish, and Schleswig-Holstein which is German. Greenland does not share a border with the USA, has historically never been a part of the USA and is an autonomous country in its own right. USA does not and has never had a claim to the country. The only thing that can gain Greenland for the US is to outright invade the country, which would be an entirely bad look.

The U.S. - which has almost 10 times the population of Canada buys slightly more than 10 times the amount of goods AND services from Canada, than what Canada purchases from the USA. Does that equation seem unreasonable, given the population of the two countries? The majority of the 'goods' the US purchases from Canada is in oil, which is sent to the USA for refining, then sold to Americans. Canada has pipelines that ship the oil from northern Alberta to USA, or to the port of Vancouver, where it's also shipped overseas. Buying Canadian oil, helps keep the price down for Americans. However, if Americans want to support Trump's proposed 25% tariff on Canadians goods, they will pay 25% more at the pumps and to retailers who will get taxed on the oil and gas they use to operate their businesses. Prices will go up on all kinds of things, including groceries. Trump wants to use only American oil and gas products, but currently, America lacks the types of refineries necessary to produce the types of oil and gas products the country needs to fuel its economy. They will take years to build ... if it can be shown that America's existing oil and gas reserves are of a type that are useful for future need.

Denmark and Finland also have great education systems and a history in the Hanseatic League - an association of cities in Northern Europe that relied on pragmatism and cooperation. So Denmark has independent thinking, history of pragmatism, aggression but also cooperation, and a lot of countries stands behind them because they haven't been expansive for centuries now. You really, really don't want to pi** off these guys.
