This is my new, favorite MC training video series, because it is performed by knowledgeable Goldwing owner/operators. Sport bikes are fun. Harleys have many unique qualities. But I ride a Wing. I like to hear about how these techniques affect the operation of my Wing, and how to make corrections to my Wing. Rich and Kake are great instructors, and they make you feel comfortable while you learn. I’m planning to binge for a few days so that when the thermometer goes back up, I’ll be back in the parking lot training on my Wing and applying all my new found knowledge.

Always good to get out in a parking lot and practice! It’s fun, and the skills come into play constantly in everyday riding scenarios; they will save you from the awkward dropping the bike in front of spectators scenario 😌. Thanks Rich 🖤

I’ve done some uturns on my roads and the bike has gone from underneath me. I think that’s partly to do with the loose gravel and my lack of skill. I’m gonna practice this Rich. Thanks for that

Hey OO, how it going? Yeah like I said before, you have skills...Most would never ride on the type of roads you've ridden on. So on a well paved road, you would master the u turns.

In my opinion, riders are afraid to make U-turns because they are concerned with not dropping their bikes, especially brand new ones or customized ones. It seems to me that the less I care about a drop the more confident I am making a U-turn. My 2010 Yamaha RSV is a big-ass bike, heavy as a mofo, and difficult to pick up once it’s fallen. Those are some of the reasons I get intimidated when making U-turns. Thanks for the lesson though, I’ll be taking your advice and duck-walking my bike as you suggested.

Good video, I am practicing, i was able to do it pretty consistent on the the Harley, now on the DCT I am having a few issues. Getting better, throttle control. but, I think my main issue is turning the bars. At the present time, I can do a 25 -28 consistent, I scrap on the out, so, I am leaning it more at the end. I think I may be keeping it to straight up and down at the beginning and not turning the bars enough. Practice, practice, practice. Everytime I ride I practice for a few in the parking lot.
@BootsandJeansRiders
@BootsandJeansRiders 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Moose...Best thing is that you know where your problems are. Yes the handle bar must turn immediately as soon a you turn your head. I only been on a DCT once, but I was told if you put it on manual and use more rear braking it much easier. Yeah we get in a few minutes of practice before each ride also.

Great video. Turning radius is a lot higher than what you show, but if riders can start with that they'll be in good shape and can practice tighter turns as they build skill. Thanks for encouraging us to get out and practice.
@BootsandJeansRiders
@BootsandJeansRiders 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah definitely a larger radius at higher speed. As you stated, it a good place to start. We do this in all our practice sessions and in our last session two riders couldn't make a u turn at 27'. I reminded them that the bike is capable of turning under 20'. With that...one started making the turns but the other struggled. The next week we had a private session with him and he completed every u turn.

I'm so glad I found YOU! This is the first time I've heard of finding the turning radius, and it makes so much sense. I'm going to do this. I find that when I HAVE TO make u-turns in traffic or elsewhere, I have no problem, but when I go to a parking lot just to practice, I get scared and sometimes just give up from fear of falling over.

Greetings! I just found out about y'all through Robert Simmons channel. I had to subscribe! I just learning how to ride as of 2mths ago at the Harley Davidson riders academy. I gotta work on everything, but at the moment my biggest challenge is just riding out my garage and going up a steep driveway. This wouldn't be a big issue if I wasn't 4'11" with short legs.....smdh. But I'm not gonna give up. This is where i live so I have to master it.
