What abput the edge of the pipe in the ground where the 2 pieces join together. Seems like that would be a pretty sharp edge and possibly cut the plastic?????
@KansasGardenGuy10 ай бұрын
It does come close and touches it in some but has not rubbed a hole into the plastic as of yet. I have 3 tunnels now and they all are like this but you could wrap it if needed

Thanks for sharing! I've been eyeing the bootstrap farmer hoop house kit, and I agree with learning by watching someone do it! 👍

This is great mate!!! How well has it held up to the current date? Also, how deep are the base poles into the ground? Did you ram them in or concrete them in?
@KansasGardenGuy6 ай бұрын
I took it down and moved it to another spot on the farm. I put them 2.5 ft into the ground and no concrete needed.

Thank you SO much for the great video. We put up a Bootstrap Farmer Hoop house using their bender. We had about ten people out that day. And just like you I watched the “other” videos and just knew we were going to have a finished hoop house in one day....well... no, we didn’t, in fact it still needs 2-3 more days to be finished. LOL. But have one here soon.. maybe by New Years!

center purlin goes on the outside
@KansasGardenGuy14 күн бұрын
@@cindyholder2002 I guess I’m confused why would you do that? That means when you pull the plastic over the top it would catch on the purlin and rip it.
@KansasGardenGuy14 күн бұрын
You definitely want it on the inside that is how every company builds their tunnels and kits.
@cindyholder200212 күн бұрын
@@KansasGardenGuy you want it on the outside so it gives it just a bit more pitch so the snow will roll off it easier.....and the thicker mil plastic wont rip

Just found and really like the channel. Question. Just curious if the make a 2 hole clamp for 1-5/8” pipe and why you can’t use those and screw to the boards.
@KansasGardenGuy Жыл бұрын
Thank you for finding us! And yes there are many ways to attach them to the base and hip boards. I chose this way because I wanted a bigger bolt going thru the poles to make it more rigid in my mind plus the cost of bulk carriage bolts are cheaper than those clamps in my area.

Does everything you need come in the kit for the high tunnel except the boards on the sides and bottom?
@KansasGardenGuy3 жыл бұрын
When you order the DIY kit it's kinda pick and choose. I purchased the plastic, purlins , wigglw wire and tracking from Bootstrap. I purchased the poles, wooden boards, and Tek screws and boots locally. You can order all of it thru them also I just chose to buy locally to save time till I got enough money saved to buy the big parts online.

what inch is the galvanised pipe of the hoop?
@KansasGardenGuy3 жыл бұрын
Ground post is 1/58 and the top rail is 1 3/8 inch. Your home improvement store of your choice carries both in stock. It's standard chain link fence

Just depends on high high you want your tunnel to be? You can push them down further if you need too. I went about a foot or so on each. I stood on a ladder and eyed the whole length of tunnel and pushed them down till they were level to ground.
