I am a bit disappointed they updated the NA4C before the NA4. Despite my personal preference, the NA4 with 300ppi and the spec bump of the NA4C would have provided for a bigger improvement to its predecessor than the NA4C. Also, it's about time they made BSR user-configurable. It's taking eInks biggest advantage against OLED/LCD based devices away.

The specifications for the Note Max have been released: it features a Carta 1300 display with 300 ppi, no front light but includes BSR technology, Snapdragon 855 CPU, 6GB RAM, 128GB ROM, Android 13, and a 3700mAh battery (which I find disappointing). The device dimensions are 288 x 243 x 4.6mm, and it weighs 615g (considering the large body and small battery, it feels overly heavy).

@@nanabai329 I’m in the same situation as you. I originally ordered the Go 10.3, but after hearing about the Note Max at the new product launch, I decided to cancel my Go 10.3 order and wait for the Note Max. In the world of large e-ink tablets, it’s clearly the top choice and may have no competitors for years. My only concern now is the battery life, so I ordered the Note X3 Pro (the mainland China version of the Go 10.3, with a front light) to use for now. I’ll wait for reviews of the Note Max to decide if I’ll go ahead with purchasing it.

@@edwardbryan5154 Yes, considering its performance, 300 ppi display, and fast refresh technology, it can truly be called an e-ink tablet rather than just an e-ink reader. It has much broader applications, and I suspect there won’t be any competing products for years to come.

I wish the Note Max (aka Go 13.3) would have the same rounded edges as the Go 10.3. I wonder if they changed this for rigidity reasons or something else. I suspect it won’t be as comfortable to hold with the sharp, squared-off edges. Pretty sure I’ll be buying one regardless.

The Note Max won’t have a front light (yay) as it’s exactly the same thickness as the Go 10.3 (4.6mm). Interestingly, it has BSR which the Go doesn’t have. I’m curious how this’ll affect battery life.

@@5idi Agreed. We were very disappointed that we couldn't get files onto the OTG USB-C drive. We tried several times and looked through discussions on various forums but could not figure out how to do it. Sadly, we ended up returning it for just this reason. Otherwise, in terms of the hardware itself, it was fabulous. I have to say, though, that for note take per se, which is our main purpose in owning an e-ink tablet, we prefer the Supernote at our house. It just checks so many boxes with a fairly straightforward UI and ecosystem.

In the Q&A section of the Note Max page, Boox say that it is 615 grams!!! which is heavier than Tab X. The "thinness" which they focused on is useless if the device is heavy. Very disappointed. So basically, they DID intend to produce a Go 13.3, but then their design team came up with something too heavy. And they figured it would be less ludicrous to call this brick a "Note", rather than a "Go", however similar the looks are to the latter.
@arthur-ervinavramiea8848Ай бұрын
I think that the responses that are given on that website are provided by an automated AI chatbot or something like that - I asked some more specific questions about the weight and the response didn't make any logical sense :D. E.g. it is the higher DPI resolution + the presence of a magnetic strip for the pen + that a keyboard can be attached, which is why the weight is higher. Boox Go has the first two, and still manages to be lighter than similar devices.
@Morteza-hp9liАй бұрын
Actually, AI is nowadays far more logical than this, so it actually proves that the responses are human generated :))) They basically have no explanation for the disappointing heaviness of the device (which is partly to the usage of glass), and they simply recapitulate some of the advantages it has over Tab X. It is the kind of responses politicians give all the time...
@MyDeepGuideАй бұрын
It's quite likely that the weight is there because of the thinness. A thin long surface made out of any material will have a natural tendency to bend in a certain direction due to something called slenderness ratio. My guess is that Note Max has a lot of structural strengthening inside of the housing, designed to help combat that, which likely adds weight. Similar to why cabriolet versions of the same car model are heavier, as they need to have strengthening beams installed to minimize the twist, as the car geometry no longer has a roof to hold it together. The new screen shouldn't be the culprit for the weight, as it is supposed to use thinner glass than the panel in Tab X.

I can see why you are exited about the Note Max. I think it has 128GB which will go part way to solving the lack of sd card which was the only reason I returned my GO 10.3.
