This looks really cool Olly. Never heard of these before. One thing that looks absolute fantastic is it allows UK readers to finally use Libby on an e-reader in some capacity, something which is sorely missing on Kindle that our US counterparts get to enjoy.

Oh to have an even smaller ereader for my purse! It is kind of tempting and I'm pretty used to reading on my smartphone anyway, though I don't know if I would choose to read an entire novel on it if I didn't have my kindle since I never even downloaded the kindle app on it, and its price...ouch. Still, curious to hear your thoughts after trying it out.

I've had a Boox Poke3 for a couple of years and love it! I can easily get to nook, kindle, libby and hoopla and have saved a lot of money with libby and hoopla which are provided by my library. Hope you enjoy your new ereader!

Nice video! Just one question. Does a black line appears at the very very top of your screen from edge to edge every time you turn on your Palma? On mine it appears just when I turn it on. It looks straight, and does appear to be a flaw but I'm not sure.

Impressive that it's an eReader that can run the Kindle app! That means the UI should be a much better experience that a real Kindle reader using it native OS. I'm intrigued... and hoo boy, it runs a full Android 11 OS, and can also do Mail, and the Chrome browser! it's basically a smart phone with an e-Ink screen. For those wondering, from their site, it uses E Ink Carta 1200 which has a 20% faster response time and a 15% higher contrast ratio than E Ink Carta 1000. This is the same E Ink version in the 11th gen Kindle Paperwhite.

Yeah, but it does not have a SIM slot so you can't just replace your smartphone for this, which is really unfortunate. I hope they'll make the next version with SIM connectivity

Too expensive for me but I love the size, I would certainly fall asleep reading on this and get a lot of use out of it. I hope it is popular so that the company continues to iterate on it.

Nice, a tad expensive to compete with Kindle and Kobo. Or am I missing something? I don't care about the camera. Also, a negative; it's chinse manufacture, which is more important than ever, unfortunately.

Yeah it’s a lot more expensive, partly because it’s more capable but also I suspect because it isn’t subsidised by ebook sales. As for the country of origin, I suspect kindles and kobos are actually made in China, even if the parent company isn’t there.

As someone who does the majority of my reading on a kindle app on my smartphone (despite having a paperwhite kindle) I find this very interesting. My initial thought was, what is the point of having a boox device when the kindle app is available on smart phones?, but this does look good and would be kinder on the eyes than a smart phone; I look forward to the review!

I miss the days of reading physical books with a book light before bed. I think I read a lot more because I didn’t have a bunch of stuff distracting me. With ebooks I have too much choice and get distracted easily.

I'd love one of these but the price is prohibitive. They've stuffed it with unnecessary bells and whistles just because they can and I think that'll be its downfall. Just make it a WiFi connected reading device, put a £75 price tag on it, and it'll fly off the shelves. Looking forward to your full review.
