I've been slowly developing a BMW itch over the past few years and I've finally pressed send. For a while I didn't know whether I wanted a cheap beater that I could learn to skid with, or go for a top spec, super clean 328i (couldn't justify an M3) and make it into a nice OEM+ road car.
When this car came up for sale from Adam Ivell (6two1), I just had to buy it. The specs were exactly what I was after and I haven't looked back. Hope you guys enjoy the content that's going to come from this car.

Actually the 3.0 E36 M3 was originally 286bhp. In the states it was 240bhp. The later EVO units were 321bhp in the UK. I've owned both and a well sorted 328i isn't far off a US spec M3. Production on these started in 1990 with the 328i arriving in 1995 putting it in direct line of the 3.0 not the 3.2

I’ve had seven BMW’s including an 89 Euro M6 with a 94 Euro 3.8 liter M5 engine and a dogleg 5-Speed, a 2002 E46 M3, an 99, E39 M5, a 2002 E46 328i with the M-Sport package and a couple E39 528i’s along with my absolute favorite a 98, 318i. It had a 5-speed and a 3.64:1 LSD M3 differential. It had only 86K miles and power seats. That was the most fun BMW I ever owned.

Just an FYI when doing a burnout out ... feather the throttle and don’t keep her pinned / bouncing off the limiter. Otherwise you are just asking for over heating issues

Compact e36/46 are basically the catfish' of the car world, look fantastic from the front.... Then you see the back.

Best shape is by far the 36 defiantly need omp deep dish wheel, and maybe look into full exhaust systems filters maybe even just a back box delete with straight pipe for all the braaappss. All I’d really do as body work look super clean to be honest

That's a nice E36 and is the next best thing to an M3. Some clear front indicators will give it a more youthful look. Are you gonna fit M3 alloys? You might as well if you want to go for the M3 look.

So many cars on KZbin have badly fitted HID upgrades. If fitted properly, they are a great upgrade and reliable. Before "ripping it out", just install them properly. Or fit LEDs which get rid of the ballast and Ignitors. Thank goodness you are not planning on ruining it by making it a drift car. Enjoy.

I think 20bhp for the M50 manifold is a bit of a stretch. maybe combined with a CAI and a remap. is not that easy to extract bhp from N/A engines. otherwise, completely agree, very cool car, love the shape and chassis balance.

OEM+ is the best for these things, have a LagunaGreen E36 myself, 328i swapped and I'm literally just trying to find all the super rare OEM options and retrofit them. Like, they came with power rear windows in the coupes which is cool as fuck. And a carphone and all that kinda stuff. Currently retrofitting cruise control and headlight washers.

@@boqer123 No, I managed to get a good fibreglass rep pre painted off someone on a forum. Avoid the ebay specials as they are often made using cheap plastic molds and sag really badly in the middle or require alot of work to look and fit nicely. Check out ABS motorsport, they do a fibreglass rep that's made with a decent mold and are well rated for their fibreglass and carbon parts. It's a tad more expensive than the ebay ones but worth it for the quality!
