I understand why people feel the way they do about Allar but the whole situation has been overblown. Allar is easily a top 10 QB arguably top 5 and yet people are making it seem like he’s holding back PSU. For his first year starting, he did a good job especially not turning over the ball even against Michigan, Ohio St, and Iowa. Marred by questionable playcalling and limited playmakers (WR), I believe he did well with what he had. I’m projecting him to be better this upcoming year with new OC Kotelnicki but definitely concerned about the lack of elite receivers to match against the top teams. Remember that he can be excellent but if nobody gets separation and drops passes, this offense will struggle regardless.

Penn State makes me nervous every year. They are a really good team that happened to be in the same division as two perennially top 5/6 teams in the country every year*. Folks sleep on the Nittany Lions at their own peril, IMO.

Having played with Navy I can tell you the game simply doesn't like service academies on Heisman. But my advice for offense when you run the ball cut upfield quicker than trying to bend it outside. No diddy, but if you're looking at the backside of your blockers you generally want to run inside of that like at 9:20, the defense took away the outside so you're better off getting what you can get by running inside of those guys. It's counter-intuitive, but that's real life how runners/blockers are coached and as someone who runs an offense predicated off running the ball with inferior athletes I can tell you that you may end up breaking off bigger runs like you did with that jump cut earlier in the game. As far as defense goes I recommend watching some of Brett Kolmann's videos that break down cover-2 Tampa and how defense works IRL. My team is athletically inferior, but I've managed to get a number of turnovers/coverage sacks by using those fundamentals. With a team like Penn State you actually have the athletes who can run Alabama's Cover-7 or the IRL version of Cover-3 frontside with the single corner being man to man with the single WR, and at least 1 LB man to man with a TE or running back. Hard adjustments to make in time, but I hope this helps you and anyone else trying to find success in this game.

Ross Ade magic works against EVERYONE. If you're coming off an emotional couple of weeks and especially if you had a big win the week before, you'll be lulled to sleep in West Lafayette and that's when they'll play out of their minds and the Spoilermakers show up.
