Quick review on Border's new Jagdpanzer IV. I compare with Tamiya's offering and give my opinions. Not affiliated with either company.

I can tell you it went together very well and looks great when finished. Unfortunately I'm not really set up for build videos yet but, that's the next step. Thanks for viewing!

@@SCM223 I really love the hetzer in all its guises, I have about four waiting to be built (winter projects for when its to cold in the workshop/garage)! But I think my fave is the Bergepanther, so I think one of these would fit the colection well! Hope your setup goes well. GB :)

Good review, make some really good points. My opinion is Tamiya's will give a good representation of the subject, with easy and, quick build time. And with my limited time to work on a project, that's a point to take into consideration.

Oh for sure! It definitely stands that Tamiya's models go together quickly and with very little fuss. My main gripe is what they charge for what you get. For me, if something's missing it irks me to an irrational point and I end up buying aftermarket stuff which in turn irks my wife lol. But yeah, I definitely get everyone's got different constraints. The important thing is we keep the hobby alive.

@Southern Scale Modeling, another good point about the after market, adding to the overall all costs of the hobby/project.

Luce bien ese Border, ciertamente más detallado que el de Tamiya. Mi duda es si el putty incluido permitirá hacer un zimmerit realista. Regards from Chile

The putty is similar to Tamiya's quick type putty but a little tackier. Just make sure to keep your tools and hands wet with plain water. Otherwise it will stick and ruin the texture. Thanks for watching!

I agree, tamiya way over priced, but there alot of new modeler that want easy builds, can't blame them, i'm on my 3rd month on a riefield full interior tiger, its pretty daunting.

Agreed; if I didn't put that point in the video I meant to but it kind of goes without saying, Tamiya's reputation as an easy to assemble model. Honestly probably won't be doing many things with Tamiya on the channel. There's an abundance of beginner level videos on YT so I'll be focusing on more advanced stuff. I've got the RFM Jagdpanther on my shelf, where it'll stay until I've got a big opening in my schedule.

Tamiyas engineering and quality control is second to none. Their kits are perfect. Border has a terrible reputation.
@SCM223 Жыл бұрын
Tamiya is the single most overrated model maker on the planet. Their kits lack serious detail in which you have to buy aftermarket parts to even get close. Which adds to their already outrageous price. Meng, Takom, Border, especially Ryefield, they all blow Tamiya away. Does the detail mean you have to work a little harder? Yes, but out of the box you cannot beat them.

I think people get upset when you criticize Tamiya because it's a Japanese company. And you know how weird those Japan lover people are. Tamiya is an overpriced puzzle.

@@SCM223 it doesn’t get any cheaper when you buy 2 of exactly the same vehicle🙂 You could have made that Tamiya a gem with the money you spent on the border kit!
@SCM223 Жыл бұрын
@@historex54tamiya The Border was about eight dollars cheaper than the Tamiya. As far as buying multiples of the same vehicle go, there are different situations and camouflages I wish to replicate in dioramas. I think I have like six Shermans in my stash.

@@SCM223 it was a tongue in cheek comment mate, I’m in the same club as you!
