Respect your perspective, and as a Germanophile should agree if not over the Ausf. F1, one of the Panzers. Much as it grates me to award the most impressive award to the ideological enemy, praise where it's due, I can never get past the looks and je ne sais qoi appeal of Mikhail Koshkin's T-34, particularly the aesthetic proportion of the /76 series in general. The profile of the cast turret model '41 being the most pleasing to this eye, regardless the turret's operational foibles.

I note your thin glue bottle is quite tall. I have to use magnifying glasses to make models now and they only focus at short distance. I once caught the brush in the bottle and spilled it over the dining table ruining its finish. You can imagine how pleased the Mrs was!!. I have now made a wooden block to sit the bottle in so it won't get knocked over again. You might consider doing that as its easy to do. Also good for CA glue bottles.

Oh no I bet you said some choice words ! Thanks for the tip
@theblytonian39064 жыл бұрын
Most of us have been there. I knocked over my bottle of Tamiya thin only last week, fortunately on the hard wash and wear surface of my desk, but I had to splash some on the plastic base of my newish Xiaomi cord free internal battery LED lamp didn't I?!!! Arrgh! Small mercies. If I did that on our traditional walnut topped dining room table, my missus wouldn't have to kill me as I'd probably cut my own throat. =]
@strategosopsikion85764 жыл бұрын
I have a jenk fix for that too. I super glued a stack of pennies to the bottom of the extra thin bottle. I then glued a thick 3”x3” styrene square to the bottom of the pennies. The fix is ugly. but it lowers the center of mass quite a bit and makes toppling the bottle over more difficult.

My friend, that is one imposing looking panzer from the front! Can't wait to see it painted, it's a configuration you rarely see so should be pretty unique, most panzer IV kits either have no additional armour or go with the applique armour on the front plate and shurtzen for the turret and sides, interested to see how this one turns out!

Nicely done. I built this but trying to fix errors I screwed it up. The towing rig is wrong for this model as far as I could find but easy to fix. The big problems were the step in the turret and for the model I was building the rear deck. I have the Dragon Smart Kit version of the F1 (2008 tool 6315). I must say that Border Model's F1 kit looks right up there with it, and importantly to me as no doubt to many, at a far more amenable price. Another splendid Video of a kit worth considering. Looking forward to PART 2. I'm new to kit building, so watching hints and tips is very useful for me. I do, however have two questions. at 12.20 you say the CA gives you time to position your PE parts before drying. 1). How many seconds before it grabs the part? 2). What CA dissolver do you use, if you get it wrong. and need to remove the part. I was told Acetone works but having bought a bottle of it, I can confirm that it doesn't.
@lpjmodels4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Roger , the glue gives you about 5-10 unless its been sitting for a while, thicker ones take longer to go off as a rule. you can get a specific superglue debonder, I admit though I have never used it so can't comment.

I’m hoping one day that metal tracks will be standard equipment. Seriously, if you mass produced them it wouldn’t be much more cost added to a kit. After market tracks are super expensive for what you getting. (Though I love them for the realism) If you could do every tracked vehicle at Tamiya or any other company the cost would drop dramatically. Any thoughts out there?
@lpjmodels4 жыл бұрын
It would be cool but I dont think the costs would be low, you might get away with an extra £15 ok the kit but not everyone likes them anyway. I'd like to see it

Stupid question... Why'd you use putty for one fix and milliput for the other? I'm not sure I understand the difference between the two and when to use them properly
@lpjmodels4 жыл бұрын
Hi William, the putty dries fairly quickly and is good for small seams, and sink marks and the like. Milliput is an epoxy? putty has a lot more body, and takes hours to fully cure. It sands better and you can sculpt it as its drying. On this build I used milliput so I could add in some weld seams and clean it up with lots of working time. It also doesn't shrink so one session and your sorted. I hope that helps a bit

The turret is still wrong! "This kit is a bit of a puzzle, Border have provided alternate turret sides with & without vision ports - however the F 1 was only manufactured with the turret ports insitu, it also alarmingly appears to have the rear roof of the turret reinforced "G-style" when it shouldn`t be present , this aside it could have made a decent early - mid F 2 ( G ) "upgrade", the rear turret roof armour would seem to have unfortunately negated this- a pity." www.tapatalk.com/groups/missinglynx/border-models-panzer-iv-ausf-f-1-f-2-g-t321355.html
