Always check the laws of the country you’re planing to enter. You need a special permit for a drone.

Between the Moroccan border crossing and the Mauritanian crossing, there are military bases for the Moroccan army, so even if you crossed the border post, you would still be inside Morocco, so they did not allow you to cross the border post while carrying it. "Translated by Google"

Wishing you all the best. Sorry for your loss! Your journey is well documented and very educational for those of us who want to replicate your journey. Drones are very sensitive in many African countries and almost all of them will confiscate them!

Thanks for watching! Well, it's just a drone. Nothing too important. But it's annoying and doesn't really have much reasoning behind it. I only know about one country on my way which doesn't allow drones. And one where you have to register it. Which countries do you mean? Would be nice to know. Cheers.

Only South Africa, Rwanda, Kenya, Ghana, and Tanzania have guidelines on the use of UAVs. Without wanting to list the rules of each country you are heading to as they all have individual variations, such as not flying over private property or in national parks. Others require a license, others may need a permit. Morocco is one of the countries where confiscation is a possibility in the same way as parking near military bases taking photos might be harmless or treated as spying. You might be able to bring a drone in parts or with a permit. But I would ask before you travel through the border rather than order a new drone and have it confiscated again is it easier to post it back and forth as others have done?

Perfect thank you! Yes, rules for drone usage are normal and absolutely understandable. Confiscation however is a different thing. I don't have a solution yet. Not even sure if I get a replacement. Thanks for thinking your way into that topic.

Its normal zone military and poste frontier not allow use drone and you can teste that on you country near zone military or poste and this time generaly the drones are dangers (target gaz station , zone nuclairs ...) remember that every place

drones are treated like weapons in morocco, from the police's perspective, they just found an unlicenced "weapon" in your car.
@roadlessroaming6 ай бұрын
That's almost how I felt like. No passport anymore, going from the border patrols to the police station, being escorted everywhere I go... It was quite an experience. Exciting and memorable I'd say now. :)

@roadlessroaming6 ай бұрын
@@MaghrebiDialSahh Unfortunately it is completely illegal without special license. Tourists and travellers don't get them as far as I know. And remember, no drone was ever used in my videos. ✌🏼
Next time une file this form and it Will be more easier to travel with it

At this time drones are BANNED in Morocco. Bringing one into the country without declaring it will result in it being seized by the customs and you WILL NOT be able to get it back. If you DO declare the drone before entering Morocco, the customs will hold it at the airport and you will be able to pick it up on the way out of the country. Special permission is possible for commercial drone use, but it is a lengthy and difficult process. Operators must ensure that they follow the following drone laws once they have obtained permission to fly in Morocco, Do not fly your drone over people or large crowds Respect other's privacy when flying your drone Do not fly your drone over airports or in areas where aircraft are operating You must fly during daylight hours and only fly in good weather conditions Do not fly your drone in sensitive areas including government or military facilities Importation of drones and other flying objects must be pre-approved by authorities please contact the Directorate General of Civil Aviation for legal authorization before importation/use of drone in Morocco airspace.

Actually moroccan dirhams are used and exchanged in Mauritania

Thank you for adding that! A valuable comment for future travellers. :)

No worries, it also makes perfect sense when you think about it. Many of the trucks you saw at the border transport goods meant for Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia, Ivory Coast...just to name a few. So there is a lot of trade going on between these countries, therefore it is logical to assume that local banks would hold currency reserves in Moroccan Dirhams along with Euros and Dollars. Also note that Moroccan banks have branchs in 20+ countries in Africa to facilitate commerce.

Since you are a tourist, the law does not allow him to confiscate it permanently if you are not caught using it. As long as you leave morocco, your drone must be returned to you. If you take the legal route you will get it back, but it will take a lot of time and effort, I wish you a safe road bro.
@roadlessroaming6 ай бұрын
Yes I assumed the same to be honest. But as it happened at the exit, they came up with a bunch of excuses to keep it. I was even proving them that I have never used it. And I won't drive through Morocco on the way back, which made it impossible for me to get hold of it ever again.

Just one question, if you hold south africains nationality and passport, you will be treated very carefully and seriously. Because politically south Africa is a big enemy to Morocco, because south Africa support the separatists terrorists polizario 😢
