Everyone keeps saying Elpis is ripping through reality. That was not my first reaction. My first thought was it crashing into a camouflage shield of sorts hiding the planet before.

I think I related it to the end of dlc 6 in bl3. I gotta find the exact line but it mentions that our actions has disrupted plans and has torn reality or something like that. Rip in space and time? Though your theory suggests something along the lines of sanctuary and it's shield in bl2.

In general, I don't want Jack to return, but even without that, I dont think borderlands needs a villain anymore. I feel like the series would do better if they didn't try to force a villain but instead had a common enemy like the vault monsters

I agree about Jack. I don't want him to return at all. A non villian could be interesting. Kinda takes a bl1 appeal. Not overly a villian but destroyer as common enemy.
