Rebranded to Bandit in Borderlands 2. S&S hit a little bit too close to SS and understandably people got uncomfortable.

Honestly I barely ever used S&S guns outside of the legendary or unique ones. I swear the rare loot from thar manufacturer was quite good

Their only duds were their machine guns with even-numbered body types. Body2 would grant a 4.9 fire rate. Body4 would grand a 4.5 fire rate. But with odd-numbered body types, they were fine. Body3 would grant a 7.6 fire rate. Body5 would grant an 8.8 fire rate. These are all base fire rates. If it was a Havoc, the fire rate would be faster. Also, an S&S machine gun with the least accurate barrel (barrel2) would have a bare minimum accuracy of 74.4, higher than any other manufacturer, even Atlas (which could have a bare minimum of 72.4). And that's just machine guns! S&S really is one of the most versatile brands.

Laziness on the part of Gearbox not wanting to pay voice actors more than a few lines. If you noticed, most BL1 NPCs have been reduced to side missions and if you're lucky, a dedicated minor DLC pack.

There's the thing: When extracting sounds, Marcus' weapon vending machine quotes are the only ones without a radio filter. Everyone else, even Jakobs one in the DLC, has that radio filter.

I have a headcanon about S&S. Some of the Gearbox employees have said that the Bandits ran them out of business, but I find that really difficult to believe. For starters, they're bandits. No one would buy from them if they had a completely legitimate and safe source in S&S. Plus, S&S guns were much more balanced in the other areas, and had a large tech pool to boot. No, I doubt bandits would be able to run such a large corporation out of business in the span of five years. What I think is, S&S was a subsidiary of Atlas. Basically like how GM owns several smaller car manufacturers. S&S were their lower priced yet lower quality products, and acted independently (though were still funded by Atlas). When Atlas was taken down in the events of BL1 and the Knoxx DLC, S&S was inherently destroyed as well. But that's just my theory. Unless it's proved wrong in PreSeq, I'm sticking to my guns (pun completely intended).

I honestly would have preferred tediore get replaced by bandit. 99% of the bandit guns I found were crap and S&S had the best color scheme.
