"Haven't burned yet" haha. Inspirational and informative as usual. Thanks for posting.

Looks like a fantastic route Rusty, thanks for sharing! I've actually got Windy Gyle to do as part of my Donald bagging round, and was wondering about something like this tied in with an ascent of the donald - looks like only about an extra 150m of ascent over your route.

Great ride Rusty, been enjoying your channel for a while, you do some cracking rides.... For me an MTB hardtail would have been my weapon of choice for this route, that said I've been riding flatbar/MTBs for many years now (apart from a Raleigh Grifter, my first proper MTB was a Marin Palisades trail) so they're second nature to me and my preference, I've had a couple of gravel bikes but have sold both as I didn't really ride them as the riding I do I would generally be under biking on them plus I really try to avoid roads if I can, that said I can see if you have a drop bar background why one would look to a gravel bike however in the general terrain you've just ridden for this ride I could not see an advantage in using a gravel bike, that said a bikes a bike and as long as we all enjoy the ride it really doesn't matter what you're riding, ride safe, cheers 😊

Wolf Tooth Valais, reduces travel of a dropper. I use one on my bikepacking HT.

When I saw your route, I thought you were in for a tough day - did an equivalent last year but from/to Melrose using both the Cuthbert & Dere Street. Good job you took the MTB.
