I found Pam Kennedy‘s recipe to be easy to work with, but it is key to keep it chilled. I did press it into a mold and had no problems with it coming out, but it was more of an impression mat. Sticking it in the freezer for a few minutes is a big help.

I made this back in the 90s...it was called candy clay and it tasted like candy corn. It was made with all shortening instead of butter

Just looked up Pam’s recipe today, then saw yours just as i was mixing it up for the 1st time! I did use all butter, followed Pam’s recipe to the T and looks like it’ll work out great! Can’t wait to roll it later after I let it sit a little. Thanks for the tutorial and all your advice. ❤

A trick Sugar & Crumbs channel used, when demonstrating their moulds, was with a duster. They wrapped cornflour in a small piece of cotton, tied it off - then lightly dusted their moulds with the cornflour bag, before squishing in their rolled buttercream.

I use a wet paint brush to adhere the rolled buttercream to the cookie. I prefer not to add the extra sugar.

Great tutorial! I wish I had watched this video before venturing out on my own. What a mess I made! I tried rolling it all out at one time, and I think that might have been one of my first mistakes..... there were lots of other mistakes on my part. 😂 Pam's recipes are so good!

Butter can have 18 % water content so cutting down on the butter cuts out that much moisture.

Did you use all butter crisco ? I can't use regular butter because of the food cottage laws. I'm wondering how much to use? Thank you

@randeez3361 I did. I, too, work as a cottage baker. That no butter in my buttercream rule stinks.

In an airtight container or zip lock bag - i find it dries out after a week and haven’t done a freeze test- one way to find out, test it because this will be very environment dependent.

No, you don’t want that extra air from the whisk and it’s pretty thick, might break the whisk.

More vanilla or flavor would have worked better then to much corn syrup.
