In this video I restore a neglected PSOne that wouldn't turn on. What appeared to be a simple mechanical issue turned out to be a bit more complicated and challenged my beginner soldering skills. This was a really fun restoration and I learned a lot from working on it. My success motivated me to double down on this hobby (repairing electronics) and try to get better at it, while combining that with my love of retro gaming and older consoles in general.
It was quite eye opening to me that sometimes a faulty component that costs less than a dollar is all it takes to get a device working again, especially in today's throwaway culture where its easier to toss something in the trash and just replace it with a new one.
