What really frustrate me is how other youtubers show how easy it is to fix Game gears. Just replace the capacitors they said, then after replacing the capacitors the unit still doesnt work. But at least it is in red light boot? Also after the capacitors leaked aside from the ripped pads solder doesnt stick to the old solder points. Never been frustrated this much, it's much easier to fix gameboys

hokey dinah I just literally had a spare DC wall wart that was the NES/SNES combo one and it fixed the wavy lines. Thanks so much! I had no idea that could fix the issue (at least mask the issue).

I'm working on a model 2 that has the exact same disk drive. the issue I'm facing is the laser pickup lens will only move down but not goes up for focusing. I've messed with the 4 pots on the side but nothing change. As the laser not going to focus, the disc drive will not spin at all. The diode does emit red light through lens. Any idea? thanks!

Wow, that was an acculmenation of everything necessary for the preservation and optimization of mod chipping an Xbox. That was extremely well thought out. A lot of skill sets and knowledge all put together nicely. Excellent soldering skills, and an otherwise optimal loading and configuration of the software required down to loading the box art. Wow, that was probably one of the most comprehensive approaches to checking all the important box's that I've ever seen. That was super impressive. I'm not even jealous. Envious as hell, but not jealous. You really have to immerse yourself in it. As someone who has had an eye on this scene since 2005, this was great 👍 thanks for sharing. You made it look easy!

you could've just done one application of dremel and then one of scratch doctor smh. It's commen knowledge whenever you want to polish something, you start with a rougher paste/sandpaper and work your way down to lower grits/finer pastes. This way you would've saved time, more than half of the paste you applied and the result would've been much better, with almost none of the superglue left on the right side.

My PS1 has recently started suffer from audio-stuttering issues while playing games like THPS 1 and THPS 2. Some tracks will just stutter, almost as if those half-seconds have no sound at all. It's very annoying. At first, I thought it was the discs. But after putting them into my PS2, I discovered it was the PS1 console that was at fault. What could be causing this?

Did you happen to put video preview movies on here for the xbox games? I'm curious of the performance if I have the entire library of Xbox with video previews and artwork. Like if it is going to be laggy etc. If it is laggy, I'm curious if using an SSD or an SSHD would help that

In reality the socket was not properly seated at the factory and over time was pressed flush and thus lifted the tracks and broken them on the back of the board. You haven't actually addressed the mechanical issue as you only heated up one pin at a time of the socket. Although the risk is low, you will still have mechanical movement of the socket over time. It would have been better to unsolder the socket, remove it, repair the tracks then reseat the socket (fully) and resolder all the pins.

This video was very helpful. I replaced the laser and dvd rom games started working. It didn’t come with a solder blob on the new one so I just installed it(same model number). However, after playing a little bit. The game will freeze, a little unfortunate but I know I’m making progress. Any thoughts from here on out?
