Fantastic sound. I've forwarded this to all my students who are currently on this etude.

This is very helpful because I like to listen to a peace before I play it and this is the same etude that I have to play for RCR

This is really excellent. One tiny detail that would help ME more. The close-ups on Mr. Oft's face I lose the slide positions (other than 1 & 2). Don't snicker. I've known what notes are in what positions since 1965. I like to watch how the really great players use their slides. Yes, it can differ player to player. Plus a close up of his profile, while striking, doesn't do as much for me. If that's too picayune, I apologize.

Good idea - I'll keep that in mind for next time

@@TobyOft can't wait to get back to Symphony Hall to dig on you, S. Lange, and J. Markey (throw in M. Roylance for foundation). You folks, and all the brass, are in my mind the 21st Century's answer to the CSO (although I still wouldn't throw them out of a concert hall). Hope you're all keeping the faith during this unbelievable year. ps... dig the photography, too.

Great vids. This is a small thing, but since playing along can be very helpful (and you actually encourage people to do so), adding a short count in or even a more audible breath would make it a bit easier to start with you.

Thanks so much for your comment. You bring up a matter that I debated a lot when making this video. I thought about giving a count off, but then realized that the professional world is largely devoid of count offs. Especially where you can see me breath in the video, I felt that the "Breath & Play with Me" method is much more representative of real world performance practice.
