Magnificent performance Toby! Crespo was Uruguayan but worked in Germany, founding the German Brass Ensemble. "Improvisación No. 1" was played last Sunday 4-26th, 2024 by Pablo Fenoglio, soloist at the Orquesta Estable del Teatro Colón de Buenos Aires, after Nino Rota´s Concerto for Trombone and Orquestra.

I’m a bass trombonist in highschool and funnily enough this is probably one of the easier rocut etudes out of all of them. I’ve played 1,2,4,5,6 and 7 but out of all them I found 2 the easiest to grasp. Love from Sweden

I’ve been practicing this exact piece for over a month now and the middle section has me questioning my choices 💀 but I’m willing to keep practicing this because I want to play this so bad. Love from a Swedish trombonist

This is seven years too late but I wanted to thank you from perhaps a different perspective than others. I recently retired from a 30 year teaching/conducting career and I am now trying to get myself back into playing shape for the sheer joy and recreation of it. As someone watching these from a different phase of playing and life than probably most, I find myself generally only able to do real practice when my wife is asleep so that has to be on the mouthpiece only. Being able to play along on my mouthpiece to your beautiful and artistic performances have not only been extremely helpful but thoroughly joyful.

Toby you are great....... My only problem is with Crespo piece, which I consider one of the most useless ugly and senseless compositions ever wrote... You give it some sense... Great, as always...

Youre a great trombone player. Im in high school in mississippi, but we've got similar tones, and if at all possible, would live to try and collab with you. Youve got a beautiful sound. Great job.

Dear Maestro Toby, I am a Chinese trombone player who has admired you for a long time, and the trombone I am currently using is also your signature model, due to some internet reasons in China I cannot find more practice pieces, so I am taking the liberty to bother you. Maybe I can have a photo or a pdf of it?about “Bordogni Rochut”.This is very important to me, thank you very much, I hope I can learn more with your help, thank you again and sorry for my presumption. Have a good day!

1:01 has to be the most beautiful tone I have ever heard on trombone. I can’t put into words how wonderful this piece is and it is executed with so much expression. Thank you
