My dad was a mechanical engineer and machinist. He loved making hot air engines. If he was alive I would send this to him and I’m sure he would make a little Sterling engine like this one. I really enjoy your videos. The hacks and gadgets are always fun to see.

Small warning for anyone thinking of purchasing the sand art, it is FRAGILE, at least the one I got. The glass shatters kinda easily and mine even fell out of the frame a little

I like the Stirling engine because it's a simple but elegant design. It's also a great way to learn about thermodynamics and the way energy can be converted from one form to another. It's also a very practical device, as it can be used to power small machines and devices. Plus, it's just a fun project to work on

Funny you say that. I have a 17" one that is mounted to my wall with LEDs around the frame. Before I go to bed, I spin it over and turn the light on a deep blue color. It's so mesmerizing and helps me fall asleep. I really like it.

@@Робототехникаотдетейдлядетей fun fact: you can also use it with realy cold drink but you do need some ice in it but it doesnt go so fast with ice bc it works via a heat DIFFERENCE so you can also do that if you like to but tea does work better

Dave the first gadget can also be used by not rotating it all the way upside down and instead at an angle so more of the sand is in the water, but can still move down. This way it moves much quicker!

I remember 30+ years ago playing with a couple rectangular sand art things and they were great fun. But I don't remember any air bubbles and I think they may have possibly been just coloured sand of different densities with no liquid. I've no idea what they were and never seen anything like them until now.

If you put in small roller wheels in the base of that sand disk you could just rotate it on the stand. Maybe use magnets and have it float in air so it could potentially spin itself. I commented this before I saw the pen. Well...

Weird, I had one of the sand ones in the early 2000s and it didnt need a syringe, did always perfectly work out of the box. I wonder how it was different and what they could make better, maybe some kind of membrane? And it wasnt expensive too.
