I just don't know if I can continue doing things this way anymore. I am so bored of beauty and uninspired by what the industry has become. I have found solace in books and its makes makeup feel dull to me. Among other reasons...

I have definitely lost my love for makeup these last few months. It’s a struggle b/c I don’t feel pretty with or without it at this point and I have sold a huge portion of my makeup collection b/c it’s so expensive and just sitting unused. I haven’t been watching any makeup content b/c I’m simply uninterested which is shocking if you knew me. I clicked on this b/c I can definitely relate ❤

I’m bored of beauty too haha …! Too much launch over the last couple year and I’m overwhelmed all the brand I fell in love when I got into beauty have been replace by new brand. I’m just tired of the whole thing. Rather spent money on skin care procedure that will accentuate my natural beauty than invest money in makeup these days.

I remember being mad into makeup before i had my son, then it was just so much effort to sweep bare minerals powder foundation and warmth over my face with a touch of liner just to look human. I dont think i got my mojo back entirely until he was at least 6. By then i could sit down and play again without him trashing my makeup. Yeah he even did that one morning just from being asleep to me having a coffee and going back up to wake him. He’d climbed a stair gate into my bedroom and opened a drawer with a child lock on just to get to it. I wasn’t buying more that he could trash😂. Now he’s 11, the last 4 years have been great, my skin has changed being early menopausal but ive learnt what works after lots of trial and error. Im finding Katie Jayne Hughes and Ali Andreea both do make up styles and use products i can use daily with no issues. Their technique videos help me so much to do looks I wouldn’t have attempted 5 years ago. Getting the KJH Spectrum 25 piece brush set has really really changed the game for me. The tools now do all the work, my touch is so light on my eyes but i get more out of it than ever before. Most of us are using lighter coverage and thinner less coverage concealers for the same reasons you said but also since covid. We all just want our skin but better, more of us are using cream products on face and eyes. I think many want to see ways of using the makeup they already spent a fortune on. Ways of getting the most out of our collections. I have the Huda New Nude palette, haven’t bought a large palette for her since that one. I need to use that more. My Vieve Essentials palette, i use it all the time but i constantly search for other looks using it. My Dior backstage palettes, i absolutely love them and i constantly use them, but again, i constantly search for inspiration. Im determined this year to use as much as i can of what i have before i buy more in August. Cost of living has kind of forced this for a lot of people i think. If you still want to play with beauty, mull over the possibilities.

have you read the creative act: a way of being ? it helped me a lot when i pivoted my channel away from being a beauty focused channel (it did not serve me anymore either but I still wanted to create content but also had an incredible amount of guilt for changing- i will admit i make less money but i am happier) post what you love to do! book reviews would be fantastic you could also do both- book review with matching makeup/nails to correlate the book. books & looks LOL whatever you decide, you’ve got it girl!!

Ashley, in my opinion here's what I think you should consider. Try not to feel pressured to make certain videos that don't fulfill your passion. There's always going to be people here on KZbin that want to see your content because you're a very unique and interesting person & you have supporters of any content you put up!! So just try to take it day by day, video by video. If your main interests are books and or nails then maybe base your looks on that. Or no makeup at all. Just make content that makes You happy!! At the end of the day that's what matters is what makes You happy! Just take it slow and let your heart be your guide. I just enjoy watching you do your makeup, any look, talking about what interests you! Much Love!!! 🤗💗😘

Please do what makes you happy. I found you through make up, but stayed because of you. I also haven't been super excited about make up either. But it's not that strange, with time we change and so do our hobbies/interests. So if you want to do non-beauty industry things, please do! Your channel can shift focus (just as your interests). I'm so down for book stuff if that's what you want to do (fantasy and dark romance girly right here), but please do what feels right for you❤

Please do what you love to do. I came here for makeup but stayed bc of you! I've never been a fan of most beauty creators, never really watched makeup vids. You were the first beauty creator I felt like I'd found that I could relate to in any way and it has nothing to do with the makeup. I'm not really on other media sites but I'm here and if you're gonna stay with makeup or switch to something else (books would be so fun!) then I'll be here still. As long as you can put up with me complaining about stabbing my eye with a nubby torch liner lol

I think Books and Looks is a great idea! I've been bored of beauty for a while, how many blue/purple multichromes can I really own without it being super repetitive, lol. I still watch oily skin recommendations and new brand reviews but that is about the sum of what I search out. I feel into watercolor last year and then books and your book club this year. I just picked up Swordcatcher from the library!

Yes girl your not the only one who just lost a passion to talk about beauty. I know I did on my channel and I transitioned it to a book channel cause that is more my passion now. I started my beauty channel during the pandemic then this last year I wasn’t feeling as passionate or inspired by beauty anymore and just rediscovered my love of books. So in the middle of last year I just started posting about books and find that it’s also easier and quicker to edit my book videos also. Do whatever is giving you passion if it’s books then talk about all your fantasy books. I enjoy your book content elsewhere and would totally watch it here too. I know if you watch battybean she does some book videos along with beauty on her channel and you could always do something like that if it inspires you. I am actually in the middle of the Throne Of Glass series and once I’m done with it I’m gonna start ACOTAR and then the Cresent City series! I love my fantasy books but sometimes I need a little book pallet cleanser and that’s when I will read some thrillers and romance books.
