@@DrNothing23 Awesome Jeff. I caught the same tour, where they played at Vancouver's Club Soda. Two drummers, too much Grateful Dead acid, one of our crew almost getting kicked out, but then ending up switching tees with Yamatuska JUST before he went onstage. Hilarious, seeing Hugh with a different shirt on, and pointing up at Eye, wearing Hugh's "Soul Discharge" shirt. Sure, in my top five gigs.

Never realized until just now (feel kinda slow!) that Mike Patton's trademark hardcore/growling/screaming/vocalizing mic technique came almost directly from Yamantaka Eye. I mean, I played the hell out of John Zorn's Naked City disc, 20+ years ago; and knew that Patton had worked extensively w/Zorn. But somehow it never occurred to me LOL

@devonfisher15154 жыл бұрын
Actually not entirely true - that's from the 1998 "Shock City Shockers" compilation (which various Eye and Boredoms side-projects featured on). Eye modified his original image - making the jacket's text read "BECK" for one - for the Beck album, which came out a year later.

There was even one show he did in the band before Boredoms where he drove a bulldozer through the venue and trashed the place, even throwing lit molotovs. I think there was one where he wore a spinning powersaw on his back the whole time and cut his leg and coulda totally killed himself, and another time where he killed a cat on stage too I believe....

Hell yeah, I've had "Chocolate Synthesizer" coped on a cassette tape for many years. I used to have about 8 or 9 Boredoms CDs, too, but they were destroyed in Hurricane Katrina. I had two of those Rebore discs, also - the ones where DJs remix Boredoms. I had the Unkle one & the DJ Krush one. They're killer! My friend Brian Patton (guitarist for Eyehategod & Soilent Green) turned me onto Boredoms in the early '90s. Still one of my favorite bands to this day!
@PKSkyler7 жыл бұрын
That's quite a collection, sorry to hear you've lost it. I woulda really liked to own that DJ krush one as i also like the album zen. It surprises me and impresses me how much Boredoms has reached and influenced people to this day- I saw Xiu Xiu live just a bit ago and I talked with Jamie a bit after the show and when I mentioned that I could see some Boredoms influences he told me they both listened to and loved Boredoms. As eclectic as the band is, the raw energy and noise and even crazy emotion with their playing makes them just idk, one of a kind lol.
