Awesome video, great information and so nice to see and compare mature specimens. Given that they are all collected from the same area, are they distinct species, or are they hybrids of one species that have cross pollinated over time to produce plants of varying hardiness and appearance?

Thanks! As far as I know they are distinct species and to pollinate they need to flower and the intervals between flowering are very long. Unlike more common bamboos where flowering records exist, they don’t for many Borinda That’s not to say they haven’t flowered and created hybrids in the past They have only been in cultivation in the west for around 30 years which is not a long time when compared to many other plants in our gardens, some are still learning about them

Sad i cant get them easily here in norway wee have a stuqid rule with importing plants u have to be a civilian and just import plants u have to be a business to import plants. Its a strugle to find tropical plants here

It’s harder now in the UK after Brexit, but we can usually get most things, just some plants that are 40 euro in Europe, can be 120 euro in UK now
