"Your Song" was his first success. The words and music are amazing.

@@watchreadplayretro That was a shock to me. Like someone never heard of water until today. I had all his 70's albums in vinyl back in ireland. Listened to them and David Bowie's in my big sisters bedroom all the time. I wouldn't have known anything about his orientation then, just enjoyed the briliant, brilliant compositions and production, along with Bernie Taupin; plus it's amazing they nailed the whole American song culture thing in their twenties. Lost his voice in the Nineties or early noughties I think. Spoke on his intercom with him once as a chauffeur at his home in Old Windsor bringing back some friends, on the day they celebrated his sixth year of being "on the wagon". Such is life. All those 70's albums were works of art, even though I've been big in to a few other musical artists recorded works since then. Sorry to rabit on ... :)

@@pomerau Cool that you got to talk to him even that way! The closest I came to him was back in 1997 when I temped as a cleaner at Watford Football ground stadiums (Elton John's 'Taylor' Made Army as fans used to say) and one day got to clean the Elton John suite, it had one of his platinum albums hanging there framed, I cleaned it very delicately and caringly because I'd also grown up listening to him a lot (Still Standing was a great compensation for bad days or stressful times!) I switched to rap and hiphop in the early 90s (no gansta stuff for me though, only the 70s-early 90s stuff that's more poetic set to great hooks and loops) but I always playsome Bowie and Elton at least a few times a month. I will look up more about Bernie Taupin,, cheers for that!

@@watchreadplayretro He wouldn't have made it big without Bernie's lyric writing. I accidentally stumbled on a You Tube interview of him recently and he looked great! Apparently some / most of the time Bernie would come up with lyrics first and Elton would think of a tune or melody that would fit. That's amazing you were at Watford FC. I have only been to about 10 or 12 football matches in my life - however .... (another bit of oneupmanship coming!) .... The time I spoke to be him from the car to be let back in to his house at 2 am with guests (actually a temporary drummer and his boyfriend) was in the mid - Nineties when Elton used our chauffeur company regularly, and had one favourite chauffeur drive him and Alan? Furnish in his own cars. (He had a place in Holland Park as well) Fast Forward a little to 2000 - 2001 I worked freelance as a family chauffeur for the No.2 at Goldman Sachs (big money making machine for the few in Fleet Street). He was on the board of Tottenham and also Watford, and one evening he brought me in to watch a midweek match from the box at Watford. Nothing luxurious then, loose wooden seats surrounded by low wooden walls to keep the riff - raff out right above the centre line. I left 5 minutes early to get the car ready and met another well known manager going up the steps to the exit door. (Name escapes me). I think Elton John was not involved with Watford by then, I could be wrong. Glad you enjoyed Bowie as well!

One of a very few performers who can hold an audience with just his voice and piano. His dynamics and way of playing chords are very unique. Used to have massive meltdowns but he definitely seemed to settle down after meeting David. He loves to encourage young talent. Lady Gaga is godmother to their 2 sons.

I agree with the previous suggestions, both memorable songs. May I suggest you add ‘Cold, cold Christmas’ to what could well be a long list. Love all the videos you produce, congrats.

Do you see why my generation thinks your rap is not music... It isn't. i CAN'T THINK OF ONE RAP OR HIP ARTIST THAT CAN ACTYUALLY PLAY AN INSTRUMENT. Hip Ho[h/rap isn't music , its poetry to an artificlial beat.

I must admit, I was never a big fan of Tiny Dancer. There are many Elton John songs I like more: Someone Saved My Life Tonight, Your Song, Bennie and the Jets, Sacrifice, Philadelphia Freedom, Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting, Daniel, Crocodile Rock, Candle in the Wind, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word...
