L'univers germanique n'est vraiment pas son monde, mais il s'en sort sur d'autres registres. bravo ! bravissimo ! /// Royal power, musical line and manly sensibility... as always with Christoff. He's the perfect embodiment of the king and father. The Germanic universe is really not his world, but he manages with other registers. Bravo! Bravissimo!

Thanks very much for sharing this rare recording. Extremely personal interpretation, as always with Boris, much derided by many Wagnerites, but I find its throbbing passion totally compelling. Shame that he never sang the complete part onstage. It would have been a wonderful addition to his commanding Gurnemanz.

Unfortunately it was not possible to determine the date. Possibly the tape was made between 1951 and 1954.

A tough question indeed. On CD covers they say 1954. Curami and Modugno in their book about Boris Christoff say 1963.
