Remember, sociopaths don't have the brain circuitry for empathy. That is why he is asked whether he does understand the grief that people are feeling. They ask him, because they understand that they are dealing with a sociopath. A sociopath has been described as someone who would stop at the scene of a terrible, fatal accident in the centre of a city. He would stand, not to watch the scene, but to watch how the bystanders react : they're shock, their pain and sorrow at seeing something so horrific happen to someone. Then they would calmly go home, an practice recreating those expressions in the mirror, for retrieval at a future date where they may notice that this is how other people are reacting. For them, they aren't capable of experiencing those emotions about others. You can see how unsure Johnson is : not at whether he'll trip himself up with this answers, but he's furtively looking around the room to try and see what level of pantomimed contrition he should act out
@notmenotme614 Жыл бұрын
I once had a neighbour who acted a total bellend, he would disturb everyone else in the apartment block at 3am. I always wondered if he was a sociopath as he had no empathy for others around him. He could not see what he was doing wrong. He once replied to me “what do you mean you need to wake up early in the morning”.
@Czechbound Жыл бұрын
@@notmenotme614 Well, most statistics quote 2.5% of people in the UK as being sociopaths, but some estimates go as high as 4%. So between 1 in 40 and 1 in 25 people that you meet during your week are sociopaths. On a packed bus/ tram/ metro/ train carriage, on average there are 1 or 2 of them. A great book on sociopaths and psychopaths ( an additional 1% of the UK population are psychopaths ... again, you deal with them on average ever week ... ) is "Snakes in Suits". I dated one, and it didn't take long for the traits to reveal themselves. A friend worked for one. My brother when he was a child had one as a teacher. Whatever you do, try and avoid them. If you have to deal with them, interact as little as possible. Don't give personal information, or reveal your personal likes and dislikes. And don't react to their behaviour in your company. They thrive on knowing your hot buttons, and then get perverse pleasure in pushing your buttons. And they are supremely narcissistic, so ignoring them is one of the best ways to irritate them. Never show weakness to them, and they'll know then you're not a pushover, and most probably look for others to annoy. To me they are very immature. They are usually on their own with a history of failed relationships as people don't last long with their bullshit. Sorry that you had a neighbour who wasn't considerate. They may have had other mental health issues, or a very low IQ ( never discount the idiot factor as the man said ). But if it was a sociopath, getting the police involved early and often, and asking them not to share who made the complaint is the way to go. And then limit conversation with them to "hello" and "goodbye". Don't betray your annoyance with them as that just gives them the attention that they crave.

@@garymitchell5899it is important to realise that these are not criminal proceedings. He loses nothing by saying that he takes responsibility. However, as prime minister, it is a question that shouldn't need to be asked. Maybe focus on the specifics, not the general points that he makes. In addition, consider whether in your day to day life or work this level of competence would be good enough.
@garymitchell5899 Жыл бұрын
@@lyseight1l991 The point made was he wasn't taking responsibility, but he was. Many mistakes were made and he acknowledged that, and to me it seemed genuine. I have already said all this.

'At HQ they had had a hard day ordering paperclips and the generals felt they deserved to be rewarded for their hard word with a glass of sherry or two, whilst in the trenches the soldiers knee deep in mud were just praying that they survived the night', imagine how that would have gone down if that had had happened in the First World War. I can't get my head around why they don't understand why the public think they were wrong about party gate? We know those on the front line in the NHS were not just working hard but also risking their healths/lives. A friend worked in a hospital during Covid and described the routine that she had to go through just to have a cup of tea or go to the loo, but hey ho, writing a press release needed to be rewarded with a glass of wine apparently.

Simply unbelievable. While his Oxford and Cambridge educated upper class staff were boozing and canoodling at work, bringing in booze by the shopping trolley load, having basement karaoke sessions, whilst being very highly paid in the process, my hard working son in law, a skilled aeronautical engineer with 20 years at Rolls Royce, plus half the factory in Inchinnan (near Glasgow) lost his job with a mortgage to pay and three kids to support. He had to take on two jobs including weekends and drive over 120 miles round trip to work in an unrelated sector and has now lost his skill set. I voted for him because the alternative was a Marxist, but now bitterly regret it and will never vote for his party ever again. We need mature real, rational balanced people with real life experience as normal average citizens in charge of this country, not a bunch of arrogant, over-priveleged trust-funded elitists who think it's all just a big extension of their private school days and we are just the pawns in their game.
