GBP 15% down against US$ in 14 months. Those betting against UK are making a fortune. Please ask Rees-Mogg, Farage and their hedge fund cohorts - How much have they made from the fall in GBP? Are they long / short on GBP? If there is no-deal Brexit, how much do they expect to make on fall of GBP?
@inquisitivechimp54085 жыл бұрын
Currency speculations exists - both ways. But don't forget that: Lower pound = increased British exports = more stable, vibrant economy. British holidays, british training/education and university programmes, british products and services of any kind, and British investment opportunities become more attractive to foreign buyers when the pounds drops. What you should fear is the scenario that after brexit the pound will go significantly above the euro, damaging British exports and the economy, leading to higher british unemployment.

It was inevitable for the UK to go through this process. Ever since WWII the UK has been struggling with the loss of its Empire, its status in the world and basically its identity, it's media and its class system (to name but a few ailments). I think Brexit is good, it's a healing process the UK needs to go through. For better or worse. As an outsider (I'm Australian), it's obvious the UK is battling some demons and I think they deserve support and understanding, no matter how difficult they seem to be at this time. I think the UK will mature through and prevail. Its 27 partners and closest allies will encounter their own demons and in the end what belongs together will come to together.

@@lesigh1749 No one wants to solve colonial leftovers problems of others. The British border in Ireland is a British made problem. So either the British stick to the treaty the Good Friday Agreement or they break it or they make a new treaty that all sides agree on.

Prediction of a General Election soon, resulting in Boris gaining a stronger position, the Brexit Party doing very well too, and the UK Leaves the EU on Oct 31st if the EU don't really budge, with a "No deal" Brexit.

Leslie Sepssy I am sure he will do a far better job than Mrs May. The people need to give Boris a chance before decrying him.

I too beleive giving people a chance, I think that Boris has the dynamics to get things done, but he must secure the support of the conservative party, so Boris, the best of British luck.

Clear out the remainers and the civil servants, put people into power who actually implement the democratic will of the voting public. Looking forward to the imminent general election.

E Land that’s strange. I lived through a referendum too. And my ‘position’ won with 52% of the vote. Narrow but a victory nonetheless. The only thing that’s been miserable is the democratic deficit that has ensued since. If we leave and then vote to go back in, in a future referendum that’s fine. I can live with that. I am a democrat and accept majority voting. But first we need to implement the leave vote and see if the project fear pundits were right. Or if they were wrong....
