i think his opponent was the one surprised, not being prepared for carlsen move his queen & rook so early, he made a weakness very early by that pawn move in response of the early move rook, wich in the future carlsen took advantage of it

Not easy to see the moves, but it seems to me like Carlsen blundered in the opening allowing a fork of Queen and Knight on the queenside of the board. Luckily for Carlsen, Savchenko miscalculated some exchanges a couple of moves later. Anybody else reaching the same conclusion?

I think Carlsen was always going to win that knight back. After Savchenko "wins" the knight, Carlsen by taking back with the pawn makes the defence of the knight on c3 impossible in the long run. Whether he saw that, or intuited it, or it was just a lucky mistake (doubtful - this is Carlsen), who knows!
