I own a S&W 686, identical to that gun (a S&W 681) except it has adjustable sights. I can tell you that Boris is right. If it does not work, you can indeed hit him with it.

Zing! I will say this though: My first firearm purchase was a Hi-Point 995 Carbine, and it's ugly as hell, but it's reasonably accurate and it has never malfunctioned. I've heard of other 9mm carbines costing over a grand that have a hell of a lot of problems both in accuracy and reliability. Are there better guns out there? Absolutely. But if all you can afford is a Hi-Point, it's a great value for the money.
