Is it ok to use a Borla Crate Muffler on a Chevy Silverado?
I asked this question to Borla and they said it should be fine to run it, but it is not made for the truck. This muffler is made for specific engines to cut down on drone. It is tuned for an engine that has a displacement of 327ci.
The 5.3L is 325ci. so that is pretty close.

Yea I love the cold start. Never gets old! I do love that it calms down while driving and then it’s there when you want to get on it. I bet the 6.2 sounds great!

Just bought the same muffler. Can’t wait to get it installed. Did a muffler delete, and while I don’t notice any power loss or gas mileage differences, I do have bad exhaust leaks. Thanks for the video!

Hey Zach, I have a 2023 Chevy 1500 RST. My engine displacement is 323ci, did you have to buy any other parts for the Borla Crate Muffler? Or is your link complete set to buy and install? I love the sound and your video, gave me the clarity I needed to complete my thoughts on my purchase! Thanks for your feedback. Also, with your link to buy the crate muffler, Chevy isn’t an option. Only Ford F150 and the price is $414. What did you enter to get it for $250?

I like how you changed the chrome tips to black. How did you do that?

There are three screw you take out to get the tips loose. Once you get them out, clean them, lightly sand them with a fine grit sandpaper. Then I spray painted 3-4 coats of high heat matte black paint. I have a video showing all what I used.

How does it feel when you go under load? I mean when going up the hill. Do you feel any drowning. Or any feel like doing 7th or 8th gear?

How much did it cost to power coat your exhaust tips? Or did you do them yourself?

I did them myself with high heat spray paint. Very easy, just take them off, lightly sand them, then spray them with 3-4 coats.

I put the same muffler with quad tips, but at 5k rpm it whistles like turbo, what would that be ?

Not sure, never experienced that, but it's rare that I would be sitting at 5000rpm long enough to even notice.

I also like the muffler delete for the sound but I felt like I lost throttle response and power. I felt like when I would hit the gas it was sluggish. And not that I care really, but I did lose gas mileage but I now have it back. I feel like the sound has more of a controlled tone as well. It was $250 but if you chat with the guys on autoanything.com they negotiate the price. And that’s not just with this muffler, I have bought from them for years and they never let me down with a discount.

@@dcving1two3 you can definitely hear it inside the house on a cold start but I don’t believe it is obnoxious. They might not like it if you rev it in the driveway first thing in the morning but outside of that you should be good. I guess it also depends on if your neighbors are old and retired. Lol

I did not cause I was concerned about drone in the cab driving on the interstate, but may try taping up the resonator screens to see if there is any difference.

I don't believe it will work because the displacement on that motor is only 166.4. You would possibly get bad drone in the cab.

I did keep the resonators cause I was worried about inside cab drone, but definitely planning to try and tape them up to see if it makes a difference. I will definitely post a video showing the difference. Yes they are the mesh screens. Hope you enjoy the sound, I love it.

Shouldn’t matter, a good muffler shop should be able to work around whatever offsets you get. Hope you enjoy the sound! I really like mine.

@ZachAtak Customs hey so I had mine installed. Sounds good until I get on it. If I floor it it's making almost like a metallic whistle noise from the rear end. Very obvious no rumble at all. Was wondering if you had the same issue. Flapper valve is removed also.

Yea I was averaging around 13.5 with the muffler delete, then it went back up to averaging about 14.5. The tires and lift are what really killed the gas mileage.

Been there done that, don’t notice much difference in performance from a full catback to just a muffler swap except price. Had a complete Borla Atak catback on my f150. I honestly feel like it’s a marketing scheme.

And then the knock sensor threw a check engine light for noisy lifters, and GM says it’s the sensor. My exact experience. GM is garbage now. Don’t matter how good she sounds. No more Chevrolet for me!
