Borla S-Type Exhaust for 2018-2021 MK7.5 Volkswagen GTI [Exhaust System Sounds]

I have a 2017 MK7, with the non resonated S-Type. I am very happy with it. Trust me, it is louder in person. Inside the cabin, it sounds perfect. Not too aggressively loud, but you definitely notice it when you throttle up. Inside when you rev, you don't think it sounds all that special from inside the car, but if you're outside of the car and someone revs for you....it's loud.

For me, there are certain points in the RPM band where it drones for a moment. For the most part, it's not drony at all. Road trips can get a little annoying after a few hours. Granted, I also have an APR dp.

It should be stated somewhere that if you’re going to install it on an aftermarket downpipe (normally 3” piping) Borla doesn’t include a fitting for it, they assume all their exhausts will be installed on OEM downpipes

@@poyo3582 not sure, I’m still new to my GTI, I had bought Borla because of the great reviews and sound. Just disappointed a little. All the reviews never spoke of fitment issues because the ones I saw were putting it on OEM downpipes. My plan currently is to buy a 3”connection piece and cut it to the correct size I need. Also, just a tip, it’s very loud with an aftermarket downpipe but you do get those gurgles and DSG days farts which are nice. A possible alternative is using a resonator on the system.

Well that was helpful, and it also points out how this video's audio was manipulated, while you want to hear the difference in exhaust sound, ambient sound, tire noise and most noticeably the starter motor should remain the same and constant throughout the 3 recordings, yet you can clearly tell that on the second video of the Borla non resonated offer the ambient sounds are crisper, you hear more clearly the starter and the road debris when the car rolls off, when on the other two videos the ambient is more muted, this is because the audio was manipulated to make the exhaust sound better, thus rendering this comparison at best useless and at worse down right deceiving

I have to add a resonator on mine because after my DP install it drones like crazy between 2-3k and an now all my door panels vibrate like nuts. That’s the price I pay I guess.

Hi! Are you referring to the optional front resonator? The optional resonator does not remove or replace the catalytic converter. It replaces the straight section in front of the muffler on our exhaust system. This Cat-Back retains the factory catalytic converters.

Hi! Install is straightforward and can be done with basic tools. There’s no cutting or welding required as it is a bolt-on part. You won’t need to make other modifications to install our system.

I wish my mk7.5 GTI had the DSG farts. I am not a fan of the DQ381 7 speed. Sometimes feels like a cvt even under moderate throttle. I only have 1k miles on the car maybe it’s breaking in? The 1-2 shift is terrible, even slips 5-6-7. Not sure what to do

Mine is the same way. I’ve found that shifting in manual mode alleviates that. Leaving it in full auto feels super boring. No farts and all the gear shifts so linear like Cvt like

Just installed this with a CTS downpipe and it is SOOO LOUD. Almost twice as loud as a straight piped cummins...I don't get it. I really hope the vibrant resonator tones it down a bit because with a downpipe, it is too much.

@@PEDRODH150 I had a 3" catted downpipe with the Vibrant 17950. The ultra quiet won't work that great. Although the 17950 reduced drone a lot, it's still there and the exhaust was still loud.

I'm super confused. There is zero fart sound on a 2020 7.5 mk dsg. Video shows dsg farts. I am curious what car was used. 6gear dsg and 7gear dsg is way different.

Stock exhaust is pretty heavy...55+lbs. This exhaust is 29lbs. Plus with an APR tune, this is well worth the performance gain. I could care less for sound.

What did you expect out of a borla exhaust? All a CBE does is make it louder, a well designed one like this doesn’t drone. The engine note has nothing to do with the exhaust, inline 4s have never been known for their noise.

@@bryonlippert5530 They don't "all pretty much sound the same." This exhaust has a large muffler which is why it's very quiet and weak sounding. There are many other catbacks out there with smaller mufflers or no mufflers that sound a lot louder and better. Sounds to me like you you're offended by the guy's opinion because you bought this quiet exhaust. Do you even know what a muffler does? lol
